Baseball Gate Money Split Rules Recap

The division of gate money allocates ten percent to the national commission for expenses. Last year that was 10172 dollars. Of the remaining ninety percent the players receive sixty percent and the club owners forty percent in the first four games. After that, the total goes to the two club owners with equal division. The players’ share is sixty percent to winners and forty percent to losers. A rule now bans owners from adding bonuses to players’ regular receipts. In 1903 the Pirates fared better than the Boston Americans despite a defeat, due to added club shares. In 1905 the Athletics lost to the Giants but still received a share.
