Kern is well known in Logansport where he once lived and spoke near the court house.
O. L. Harrington bought the Sandstrom photographic studio in Moline Illinois and plans to manage both studios. He will split his time between Moline and Logansport while keeping ownership in his current city. Harry Green now runs the local studio and A M Schmeltzer heads the Moline location.
Edna Goodrich, born on North Street in this city and famed in theater, secretly married Nat Goodwin yesterday in Boston. Her mother, Mrs Nellie Stevens, accompanied her. This marks Goodwin’s fourth marriage and Goodrich’s second, following prior rumors of a Nevada mine owner and a divorce involving Maxine Elliott.
East End riders press for a late streetcar service each night with trains running after eleven. A late car operates Friday and Saturday evenings, while on other nights the last eastbound car leaves at eleven.
William Lehman of 91 Twentieth Street was badly burned while cleaning engines at the Pan handle round house last week and was taken to St. Joseph's hospital Saturday for treatment. The burns are serious and recovery will take time.
Anti-Saloon league members announce a local option election in Cass County per a special legislative session. They expect a dry victory despite a large past vote for Thomas R. Marshall for governor. The election may occur December 31 or January 1, with turnout uncertainty.
Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Potter observed their fifteenth wedding anniversary yesterday at 815 Linden Avenue. About sixty friends and relatives attended the gathering, with many gifts received. Guests included multiple local couples from Peru Kokomo and nearby areas, and after dinner guests were photographed on the lawn by Mr. Nichols. Souvenir pictures will be prepared for attendees.
Flora reports Charles Cunningham injured in a Vandalia crossing may recover after a fractured skull. His father was killed in the same incident.
Edward Hankee elected as circuit court clerk has not yet taken office and will assume duties tomorrow. In his absence former Deputy Clerk Samuel G. Gifford supervised the office today.
The fire department answered a false alarm at Nineteenth and Broadway last night. No clues or suspects were found regarding who triggered the alarm.

The mile of model government road on the Michigan pike is completed costing 6200 dollars. Government furnished engineers. other expenses covered by county commissioners. Gravel roads cost about 4000 dollars per mile but the model road lasts four times longer.
Residents report strong support for buying voting machines. The county would pay about 15000 to equip the entire area, with use free on election days if purchased. no appropriation is yet approved and the county council meets in December.

D S Ullrick of Indianapolis spoke on Prayer at Broadway M E church and Wheatland Avenue M E church as the Y M C A observes a week of prayer.
The annual session of the Women’s Missionary Society of northern Indiana begins in Peru tomorrow with issued programs. Local delegates will attend the Young People’s rally Thursday evening, led by Miss Edna Gravel of this city.
Postmaster Edward Morgan was shot as he left his home in New York this morning by a stenographer. The assailant then killed himself. No motive is known and Morgan is expected to recover as police investigate possible mental illness.
Notre Dame students traveling through Kokomo after defeating Indiana University 11 to 6 caused a disturbance at a restaurant, taking food drinks and tobacco. They paraded through the city and disrupted service after the train stopped.
Fred Budde and Edward Graham were struck by an inbound yard switch engine near Peoria Junction while stepping to the eastbound track to let a freight pass. Budde died instantly. Graham was severely injured, later in critical condition at St Joseph hospital. Harry Hayner escaped with fright. Budde’s body was sent to a morgue. Graham remained under medical care with a broken collar bone and a fractured elbow.
A crowd gathered beside Dr. Hetherington’s office after Edward Graham was injured by a train. A man tried to peak through a window, Red Blake climbed up, was kicked in the face, and Blake then dragged him down. A short scuffle left the window occupier with two black eyes.
Word arrives of the death of Mrs. Lula Kain, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Polen of Burlington Avenue. The body will be brought here for burial, with funeral arrangements not yet set.
An S U T interurban car arriving this afternoon had a broken brake rod on the rear trucks, dragging on the track. Emergency men repaired the defect, allowing the car to depart again later.
County Treasurer Matthew Moroney sent to the state auditor in Indianapolis a check for 15 606 dollars, representing the state's share of Cass county's recently collected taxes.
It is likely that the minutes of the past six months at the council sessions will be read at the next meeting by Clerk Hammontree.
The petition of William M. Wampler and others for a free gravel road in Jackson township has been continued until the December term of the commissioners court.
