The city council planned a special session for tomorrow night to restore the grant for the Red Men carnival. The lodge and property owners agreed to a bond indemnifying the city. One owner remains noncommittal, but organizers say bonding will be easy.
Ben Galloway, Walton saloonkeeper, pled guilty in Justice Haas court to selling liquor to minors and paid a 20.50 fine. Prosecution by O B Conant, deputized special prosecutor, aided by Dudley Swigart Henry Mullen and Joe Vernon.
County Recorder Felker received a letter from Mrs. George Sterns of Terre Haute asking for the location of her sister Pearl Rexford who was adopted by a Richmond family in 1883. Her mother learned of the adoption on her death bed, but efforts to locate have stalled.
Walter McCrea of Harrison Township owns a pig with two snouts and a protruding forehead snout that gives it an uncanny look. He believes the odd pig could bring in money by acting as a novelty rooter for baseball games or assisting the smelling committee of the national post office department.
Mrs. M. Shirk and her son J. H. Shirk of Peru visited the city yesterday en route to Lake Maxinkuckee for a few weeks at their summer cottage.
The Berry Street congregation, Fort Wayne's first organized Methodist church, dedicated its new $40,000 house of worship with two services led by Bishop Joyce. Pastor Rev J K Watts presided as sermons were preached, and most funds were already secured after selling the old Berry street property.
Logansport high school track team earned a Marion victory and will compete at Purdue for the state championship. Manager Huckleberry filed entries including Reed Longabaugh Routh Wilkine in the sprints and hurdles, Ross Holloway Huckleberry in the longer runs, Wilkins Reed Lee in jumps, and a four man mile relay with Huckleberry Holloway Ross Routh.
The Wabash Pavilion Entertainment company opened a summer vaudeville season at a Logansport tent seating about fifteen hundred. Promoters McMillen and Harrington invested heavily to test a new entertainment field. The program featured Slater and Clyde, Maybelle Slater, Anderson and Wallace, Knight Brothers in blackface acts, and moving pictures. The show drew rave reactions with an excellent orchestra and fast dispatch.
The two cent stamp design is approved with Washington preserved but lines coarser due to red ink chosen by the Universal Postal Union. Inscriptions will be larger and rearranged, with an arched frame replacing the oval around Washington’s head, similar to the 1-cent Franklin design.
Rochester man sues to set aside fraudulent conveyance involving Reuben Karn and Daniel Karn. Julius Rowley seeks $65 after property transfer to Daniel Karn. Neolma Wildermuth seeks divorce from Hugh Wildermuth with alimony and name restoration. Geo W Cann sues Elmer Fishback and Francis Yarbro for $13.50 on restaurant work.
The thirty fourth annual Northern Indiana Editorial association gathering will be in Kendallville on June 11 and 12. Sessions open at the Commercial club rooms with Mayor Graves welcoming and the keys of the city turned over followed by C. W. Metsker’s address and member papers. A Friday excursion to Rome City via the G R and IL railroad includes tours of Sylvan lake, steamboat and Island Park activities, with fishing, boating, bathing and meals. An officers’ election occurs Friday afternoon.

Mrs Nancy Hughes of Sycamore street travels to Kokomo for her brother Joseph Clover s funeral after Clover, an inmate at the county infirmary, killed himself at supper Sunday by stabbing his left breast with a pen knife. The Kokomo Dispatch reports the death as self inflicted.
A mystery letter to Mayor Sidney A Vaughn asked who lives at 104 Toledo street. Police traced the sender’s inquiry to Emma Eiserle whose father resides there, and found Paul Eiserle, a Panhandle coal dock employee, lived there in the past six months with no clear motive for the communication.
A former Okla resident, Clover, died two hours after sustaining a self inflicted stab wound to the left lung amid paralysis. An autopsy revealed his heart on the right side. Police suspect Emma Eiserle, missing from Logansport, may be tied to trouble in Wabash.
Alexander Short fifty dies after touching a live wire while driving with his three daughters in Kokomo Indiana on East Syea Street shortly after 7 00 pm The family urged him not to touch the wire as he leapt to shunt the horse and was fatally shocked the live wire clutched in his hands the incident occurred mid evening in a rural to city drive.
The Cleveland Salvation Army corps prepares twenty members under Colonel Holtz to tour through West Virginia eastern Kentucky and parts of Pennsylvania where feuds exist. They will travel slowly mounted and carry the doctrine of brotherly love aided by a wealthy former Confederate soldier in Bristol Pennsylvania to cover expenses. The expedition leaves Wheeling within weeks.
Ed Powell traveled to Camden for business yesterday, meeting local officials and market contacts to discuss upcoming opportunities and partnerships in the region.
Ed Pottmeyer found a Champignon mushroom in a cellar and gave it to toadstool expert John Lintner for weighing. The specimen weighed nine and a half ounces. The same mushroom species is grown by ex Treasurer G E Barnett at his Michigan Avenue hill mushroom house.
The Bridge City Gun Club held its regular shoot yesterday afternoon at Driving Park. Despite heavy wind and rain, marksmen posted solid scores, with participants including Baird Whitesell Sample and others, as the club meets on the second and fourth Mondays at 1 p m.
Evansville reports a revival in Wabash boat building. Capt Veatch, US steamboat inspector, returns from Lafayette after inspecting the Lafayette for upper Wabash trade. He notes several new boats, rising demand to buy boats, and hopes for river improvements to attract steamers. Emerald continues snag pulling, and Gov effort aims to keep it year round. Captain Frank Fitton buys towboat Bernice and two barges at Clinton Iowa for Mount Carmel strawboard tow.
Undertakers note no deaths in Logansport since May 11, marking two weeks without fatalities. Dr. Rubsam, secretary of the board of health, says the last death certificate was issued on May 11, suggesting exceptional medical care or favorable climate.
Anderson Ind May 26 Traction magnates prepare to unite Indianapolis Northern Traction with Union Traction Indiana creating a $9,000,000 consolidation covering 275 miles of electric lines. The merger will centralize power generation and car shops in Anderson with lines to Indianapolis Logansport and Peru.
President J. C. St. John of the Colorado Springs city council and former alderman Delos Powell were arrested on indictments for taking bribes in the George W. Jackson franchise matter. St. John allegedly accepted a railroad pass to Salt Lake City and back. Powell allegedly took $500 in cash. They voted to grant Jackson significant water rights later acquired by Chicago interests, now valued at $156,000. Both are Republicans. St. John had earlier been indicted on five counts for involvement in important supply contracts.
