Three Building Permits Issued in City Plan
The city public works board approved three building permits and one graveyard deed at the first meeting of the year. Bids for Sycamore street pavement will be opened next Tuesday morning with multiple paving firms expected to bid. Permits: Claude Bishop to build a $3,000 two story residence on Skelton's first addition. W. V. Hayes to build a $2,600 two story at 219 Seventeenth street. T. C. Conflict as colors hauled down at Lincoln school

Insurance Agent Arrested for Forging Note in Scam
Earl E Grey of Indianapolis National Insurance was arrested for forging a 34 50 note from Charles D Chase. The case ended with Chase dropping charges after Grey offered to repay with interest but a bank refused payment due to Grey overdraft. Chase and Dr O Fenton had earlier dealt with the note transfer. Grey was released after settlements.

Fog Shrouded Collision Drowns Twenty on Two Steamboats
In Lake Huron near Thunder Bay the steamer James B. Wood emerged from fog and rammed the Frank H. Goodyear, sinking it instantly. Twenty people drowned, only five saved, including reports of Captain F. H. Heminger possibly among the survivors. Rescue efforts hampered by rough seas and heavy fog.

Barn Fire Destroys Pittsman Property Horses Safe
