The city board of public works and the city engineer inspected the West Side sewer site and condemned a large quantity of material not up to specifications. They praised oversight and will continue regular inspections to ensure full contract compliance.
Grand Master George E. Grimes of Ladoga adjourned the Indiana Masons’ grand lodge session in Indianapolis after installing new officers. Alfred W. Emery became grand master and other officers were elected. John Grames offered land for a widows and orphans home. Four to five hundred Masons attended Oriental Lodge No. 500’s Master Mason degree ceremony.
While digging in a West Side sewer sub way after noon today, Simon Gross was partially buried in a cave in the walls. He was extricated by the crew pulling him out by the arms and bruised but returned to work.
Last night the directors held an official meeting and re elected the old officers to their positions. President Victor E. Seiter Vice president George W. Sey held Cashier W C Thomas Teller B F Skarts Bookkeeper Paul Hoeckcubeanyret.

A runaway bread wagon team from Zanger bakery circled Logansport, starting at Market and Pearl, then stormed Broadway and Sixth Street before entering Mt. Hope Cemetery South Gate. After a citywide circuit and a chase, the wagon and driver returned intact to Wheatland Avenue stable except for a missing hand bell.
Dispatches announce the appointment of T. W. Tomlinson as secretary of the American Cattle Growers Association with main offices in Denver. Tomlinson, a Chicago Live Stock Exchange railway representative, was born in Logansport and is the son of Mrs Harriet E. Tomlinson of Seventh Street.
William Burns, railroader, fined $52 for catching bass under legal size. William Daily fined $42 for using a seine. Both paid and released. Wallace Smith received $20 as fish warden fees.
Miss M M Mather Domestic Science Teacher Normal Illinois will deliver an address at the Farmers Institute in June at Purdue University. The program aims to benefit farm wives as much as farmers. speakers include G W Spitzer Lafayette a truck gardening and poultry expert. The summer session is expected to attract many attendees due to good weather.
The Wo man's Label league at Trades Assembly Hall hosted a debate on the open shop featuring Miss Fern Tolley supporting open shop principles and Miss Minnie Labelle backing the closed shop. The discussion drew intense interest and ended unresolved, with a varied program and refreshments to finish.
The county expects higher valuations over last year as reports to Auditor Gard show overall gains in personal property values across townships. Added improvements are also projected higher in most townships, with figures ranging per locality from Adams to Walton and Royal Center.
In under thirty minutes a Marion circuit court case was filed and compromised with judgment for 35 500 in favor of Candell against three railroads the Pennsylvania railroad the Indianapolis Union railway and the C H D due to the loss of Candell s feet. Candell was employed by the C H D and struck by a Pennsylvania train at Indianapolis Union station while crossing tracks on April 9 1904 to fill ice water tanks. The case proceeded before Judge Allen with an agreed statement of facts and damages.
A Memorial day ceremony in Logansport on May 30 at Mt. Hope cemetery honors the Unknown Dead. A portable monument will be placed, with a hollow square formed by Company K veterans and wreaths presented by young girls. Rev. Earles F. Naftzger to speak as four veterans guard the corners and a salute ends the event.
The Vermillion county sheriff reports horse theft and asks local authorities to help arrest the suspect. He describes the thief as having a mouth like a parrot a Roman nose curly hair a dark complexion and about 160 average pounds.

Local attorney Mahoney notes a prior Indianapolis push to offer citywide prep removal, while Northwestern avenue adopts the new asphalt. The Warren brothers credit a chemical analysis of aged tar streets for the discovery and claim Bitulithic outwears rivals.
City National Bank lists directors John Gray Dr W H Beil I N Crawford J T Elliott J D Ferguson Isaac Shideler George W Funk and J W Coneys as new Panhandle superintendent. Coneys fills vacancy from P A Bonebrake. A P Jenks elected to replace C G Newell who has left the city.
M. J. Bligh was found guilty by Judge Fender this morning of violating the Sunday flavor law by running a speakeasy rear saloon. He appealed the verdict while a new citizen-clothed policeman closed the establishment. One drunkard, Frank Ryan of Detroit, was briefly jailed then released with a pledge to leave Logansport.
A freight train collision in the south Panhandle yards shortly after midnight injures Conductor Van Loon and Flagman Bowen. They jumped from the caboose to avoid collision with a switched freight car, with Van Loon sustaining hip and shoulder injuries and Bowen a sprained back.
A crowd along the Wabash near the Eel river junction mistook a floating object for a man. A boatman then pulled up the gruesome find, but the recovered body proved to be a large dead dog, not a person.
Rev J H Jayne of Shelbyville Indiana travels to Zionsville area to promote the Baptist orphanage. The home, founded by the church, rests on 185 acres donated by a local farmer with 135 more acres later given. A final donor legacies 50900 cash upon his death to aid the institution. The home thrives aiding homeless Baptist children in Indiana.
The surety of the peace suit filed by Yerkes and Pierzon continues to be heard before a circuit court jury.
