Deputy State Attorney General Frank Bingham reported widespread concerns after visiting Loganport and 35 other county seats. He cited hush payments, improper costs, unentered fines, and suspected misconduct by deputy prosecutors, constables, and justices while warning of further investigations and possible criminal actions.
The Burrows school building heating contract went to Messinger & Sullivan of this city after seven bids from Indianapolis Lafayette Monticello Huntington and local bidders. Their bid of 1690 was two dollars lower than the next lowest bid.
The Ottos defeated Frankfort 5 to 1 yesterday afternoon at Spencer Park in ideal baseball weather. Don Richason pitched and John Simmons caught. Frankfort had six hits to Ottos four. John Corriden, son of Michael Corriden, leaving the West Side, will depart tomorrow to sign with Frankfort and play this season at a regular salary.
Miss Louise Richardson entertained several young friends at her Thirteenth Street home on Saturday evening. The guests spent the night in playing bridge and whist with light refreshments served afterward.
James W. Innes, 35, night yard master at the south Panhandle yards, was killed at 2:15 AM when No. 1 passenger train struck him on the main track. A magistrate at Lyons heard a case of false pretenses involving Madame Bonan who paid 40 dollars to obtain a child born to another couple. The husband believed the boy was his and had the name Pierre Bonan registered. The nurse confessed to the deception and the valet was prosecuted for fraud.

The couple's choices defy the Duryea will's conditions and trigger family disapproval.
