Logansport residents react to Halley’s Comet predicted tail effects with varied beliefs from apocalypse to calm skepticism. Experts forecast entry into the tail around 8:30 p m two hours of atmospheric exposure with meteoritic showers possible, while others debunk doomsday claims.
H Goodacre representing the Indiana Mausoleum company asked the public works board to set aside a Mt Hope cemetery plot 15 by 20 feet for a mausoleum. The plan includes a receiving vault with two toilets a utility room and a chapel rest room with capacity for six to eight bodies. If not built the funds could endow or be returned to the city as trustee.
The A I U will open its new hall in the John M Johnston block on Roadway this evening. The former Y M C A gymnasium has been repaired and ten candidates will be initiated. Supreme Secretary George Hologan of Columbus Ohio and Supreme Councilor Weitmeyer of Benton Harbor Michigan will attend.

A gang of four traveling hoboes was jailed after police found a covered wagon encamped east of the city. Identified as William Wilson, William Crane, James Casey, and Lee Purcell, the men claimed joint ownership of the outfit and admitted odd jobs around town. William Smith, found along the Wabash river unconscious weeks ago and confined to St. Joseph’s hospital, left yesterday for Kokomo. The circumstances surrounding his discovery remain unexplained.
