Herman Erdman aged eighty was struck aboard a Union Traction car on the east approach to the city and hurled thirty feet to the Wabash tracks below. Motorman Charles Griffith failed to stop the car in time. Erdman, a Panhandle Railroad employee on pension, died from neck and left leg injuries.
