The event ends this afternoon after a busy day of business and social matters. P. J. O'Meara of Post B Indianapolis wins the presidency by unanimous ballot, nominated by Charles Bookwalter. Chambers Terre Haute is secretary treasurer, with Smith Exansville Watt Ft. Wayne and Jackson Marion named vice presidents.

Fair skies and high spirits marked the second day of the Indiana division T P A convention in Logansport. The Dowling theater opened with strong attendance, officers were elected, and a 1907 convention was planned for Winona Park Warsaw. The day included a Centennial style ball at Masonic Temple, a concert in Court Park, and a city tour by streetcar.
The police board, with ex Councilman Stephen Boyer newly appointed, will meet next week amid talk of a department shakeup. Jesse Julian, fired by the old board, plans to press charges against several officers as he seeks reinstatement. Julian reportedly aims to expose faults within patrol ranks while awaiting Supreme Court action on his appeal.
H. E. Barnard of the state laboratory of hygiene will examine beers to appraise preservatives specific gravity alcohol content and related factors. Laxative and aperient waters will be tested for general purity by the same standards. Barnard acts as government referee on beers under Dr. Wiley so results may be accepted as final.
Township trustees meet to decide site for the joint township schools commencement on June 16 in the city. Spencer park or Riverside park are under consideration with Spencer favored by many. last year’s event at Spencer drew hundreds from across the county and this year’s class is said to be larger and the exercises more elaborate.
A musician from the Indianapolis Military band was bitten by a car dog outside the Dowling theater. The dog was led to the police station where officers used a bone to lure it, then a copper fired, killing the animal with a single shot after muzzling it.
A traveling carnival hawker in Loganport with a banjo prompted a crowd at Broadway and Third Street. He sold electric belts for one dollar, promising future riches from his hat. When the hat yielded only bitters instead of dollars, gullible locals felt duped and warned others to beware.
Howard Simmings, brakeman for the Big Four, fell from a freight car side step onto a cement street in Indianapolis. He suffered a broken nose and a fractured right leg but is expected to recover fully after several weeks of rest at his stepfather Nathan Brown’s Thornhope farm home. He was brought home Tuesday evening by cot and is regarded as a good worker by his employers.
Amos Rosie once of the National league abandons regular work to mussel fish the Wabash at Vincennes. He fishes daily from a single boat without help, plans a banquet for retired pitchers with the proceeds, and has found small pearls and shells worth 16 a ton on the riverbank.
District Attorney Jerome suggests Recorder Goff exaggerated behavior calling it hysterical. The remark highlights tension between city officials amid ongoing oversight concerns.
County officials propose a high brick wall around city property at Sixth and Race streets to create a prisoner work yard. Prisoners would crush stone for building projects daily, with a shelter house provided. nightly they would return to the jail. The plan aims to curb idle jail time and reduce costs for habitual offenders.
John H. Byers, manager of the Indiana Loan Company in Logansport, will depart for Dayton, Ohio to assume the Dayton office manager role at the Ohio Loan Company. He will be succeeded by R. N. Malay, longtime assistant, who will relocate from Logansport. Mrs. Byers, formerly Nellie Viney, will accompany him later.
PTA members filled steam lines and interurban cars this afternoon as knights of the grip hurry home for Sunday with families. Delegates remain in Logansport over Sunday and plan trips starting Sunday night or Monday. Hotels and boarding houses report strong business from travelers.
