Ducks with Money: Porter Nabbed After Attempted Heist
George Johnson, a colored porter for saloonist Al Fall, tried to steal 13 dollars last Saturday in Kokomo. Fall sent him to the bank to get a ten dollar bill changed, Johnson vanished, police alerted, and he was found on a streetcar. A search of his room yielded nothing. Fall and Officer Costello later retrieved ten dollars, plus three dollars Johnson had drawn, with one dollar twenty cents recovered before his release as tears came.

Gasoline Flames Fatal to Two in Panhandle Area Deaths
Dennis Clifford a Panhandle yard engineer died en route to work after collapsing on a street near Twelfth and George streets. Mrs. Levi Grose suffered severe burns lighting a gasoline stove at 409 North street. both incidents linked to a gasoline fire. Clifford left home at 6 30 weary, sat on a step, and died of heart failure. Funeral services for Clifford set for 2 30 PM at his residence with local union participation. Mrs Grose burned arms and face but in stable condition after medical care.

John Barnes Leads Crew for Panhandle Double Tracking
John Barnes of this city starts today with a large corps of stone workers to extend culverts and trestles on the Bradford division of the Panhandle in preparation for double tracking east from here. Last week Barnes was ordered by F H Watts to secure all mason help and report today. The culverts will be extended to make room for the extra track. Steel will be hauled as soon as this work finishes and construction begins. The farl Stewart property opposite the Panhandle station is being prepared for the engineers in charge. Trains for the work are being prepared and over a hundred workmen can be accommodated with bunks.
