A large Logansport audience heard Miss Minette T. Taylor defend manual training as vital to modern schooling. Proponents from the city’s clubs urged integration while skeptics urged caution and broader aims in education.
Brick and stone masons threaten a Wednesday morning strike after contractors refuse wage increases from 50 to 55 cents for brick and 40 to 50 cents for stone. A final conference was planned as unions and contractors refuse concessions.
The city firemen plan to present a salary increase request to the council at tomorrow night’s meeting. They seek $60 monthly for regular men and $65 for the assistant chief, with the proposal likely to be referred to the appropriate committee per council rules.
Oliver Dixon, a noted Washington township farmer, fractured a bone in his left hand when his hand slipped while jumping from a hay rack. He sought treatment in the city where Dr. B. D. Bradfield dressed the injury.

On 10 Richmond, ten local teachers will depart tomorrow morning for the Northern Indiana Teachers Association convention city to visit Richmond schools before the convention begins Thursday afternoon at the Coliseum. Mayor Zimmerman will give the welcome to more than 2500 teachers expected.
Miss Patterson loses bid for a new hearing in the Ella Patterson and Jesse Martin damage suit heard in Frankfort. Judge Claybaugh ruled against granting a new trial and its next move by Patterson and her lawyers remains undecided.
The funeral for Miller Uhl was held this morning at 928 Markst Street led by Rev. Walter J. Lockton with Elks band and several orders escorting the cortege to the cemetery. John McVay’s funeral followed this afternoon from Kreeger & Strain parlors conducted by Rev. J. M. Canse with interment at Mt Hope cemetery.

Report from Kokomo Dispatch on Leonora Matlock who died in Logansport by carbolic acid. Her father Hampton Matlock of Hemlock county ordered bury the body there. Police heard nothing further as investigators examine companions and circumstances.

Tipton township anti saloon forces circulate about the courthouse and prepare remonstrances against Walton and Onward saloonkeepers who must seek liquor licenses. C O Fenton editor of the Times led citizens in examining recent election votes to gauge required remonstrators and planned steps.

The board of management of the association will meet at the PB R Y M C A on Canal Street to review the lecture course and other matters. Secretary Benning reports about 600 dollars net from the venture and records show 1070 season tickets sold with frequent standing room after 60 chairs were added in the lobby. A new, more elaborate course is planned for next winter, while the proposed new association building is not yet pushed due to finances.
Supt Hatch of the Logansport division of the Vandalia is moving his family to Terre Haute after a transfer. A special baggage car is loading household goods today. Mrs Hatch's poor health prompted the move, and their sons William and Fred will miss their church circle friends. Fred Hatch recently resigned as treasurer of the Sunday school and Christian Endeavor. Clifford B Planck elected to fill the office for the next term ending in a year.
The semi annual convention of the Churches of Christ in the Fourth district starts tomorrow at 2 PM at the Ninth Street Christian Church. Activities include Christian Endeavor work, state missionary and Sunday school efforts, and W. M. work with evening services. Prominent workers from outside the city are expected and sessions are anticipated to be well attended over the three days.
