Superintendent McKinney in Logansport touts the federal building's design as finer than Anderson's. He notes Anderson has $86 000 while Logansport has $75 000 appropriated. Construction progresses with concrete work starting at Anderson after excavation.
Plastering is complete and wains coating prepared for lobby and toilets in wood and marble. Floors planned in oak and pine for work rooms, Terrazza stone in lobby. Electric lighting switches installed, enabling room control from a central board. Exterior work includes curb, brick paving, walk replacement, and bank lowering. Lawn planting and debris removal underway as June ends. Mr McKinney pledges completion before July 1 for government occupancy.
A three cornered runaway disrupted Sixth Street near McCaffrey’s store. Two buggies overturned and one damaged after horses bolted, with crowds scattering and citizens intervening to halt the panic. The incident closed with authorities aiding and the animals finally restrained.
A runaway horse captured by pursuers near North Street caused a halt on a crowded street. The buggy pulling the first horse was badly torn, others escaped injury, and no serious damage occurred despite the chaotic scene with horses and vehicles in the area. By nearly a unanimous vote the delegates to the state convention of the King’s Daughters and Sons decided to hold the 1907 meeting in Logansport after closing session at Terre Haute. A Peru Eagles committee Edward Frick D F McCarthy and Lou Cummings arrived in the city to promote the home minstrels set for Wednesday April 5. They spoke to many members of aerie No 323 and a special charter will be issued for the event, with Peru to host a large delegation from Lezanport.
