A thirteen year old girl asked the animal warden to find a home for the kitten, and Betty quickly formed a bond, cuddling and nursing the kitten, sharing milk, and sleeping together on the animal's door perch. Officers had to intervene to separate them at bedtime, but Betty reclaimed the kitten each morning. The pair stay close, with the kitten often nestled in Betty’s arms and chain length apart, despite the circus stunts required for morning separation.
