Earl Kurtz a well known young man of Elwood with a bullet embedded in his brain after an attempted suicide by self inflicted wound lies dying. He had studied at a Chicago correspondence school and was offered a position at $20 per month. Returning home in despair he shot himself. He is a son of John Kurtz a contractor.
