County Surveyor Beal and assistant Murphy discovered a little rivulet in Jefferson township that rises high on a hillside and vanishes in a deep gully after winding across hills east of Georgetown. They climbed 300 foot elevations above the Wabash, scouted swamps in rubber boots, and noted the rivulet’s disappearance after a half mile or more of travel.

Death of John L. LaRose in Clay Township at 77

John Garrity died this morning at 9 30 at his home 212 Wheetland street after a six day illness. Born in Ireland in 1826 he came to America at twenty one and lived near Rochester before settling in Laporte then the city for thirty years. A devout reader of Christian life, he left many close friends and his passing follows the loss of his wife Mrs Mary Garrity buried last Monday.
