Inquests Costly for Three Local Deaths

Coroner Miller filed expense bills totaling 91.55 for inquests into the deaths of Sam Dean George W Koppe and Spencer Wilkinson. Wilkinson was killed under a Panhandle railcar June 20 while Koppe fell into the Eel river June 14 and Dean died after a May 30 bridge accident. G O Trout of Chicago reported a man named C C Skyles of Mansfield took his forty five dollar suit and suitcase from the Johnston hotel during a Logansport visit. Regular Service Starts Monday on Logansport Lafayette Line

The Lafayette Journal reports the first car over the Logansport Lafayette traction line, the General Manager Emmons private car Lawton, left Ft Wayne at 7 40 and arrived Lafayette at 12 50. Motorman Kelly and Conductor Warren led the trip with notable passengers. The trial run showed track repairs needed near Ninth and Salem. Regular service begins Monday with early cars and a two and a half hour interval to Colburn and later to Logansport, extending schedules through the week.

More Emigrants Pass Through City on Panhandle Route

Two emigrant trains moved through the city last night around ten o clock on the Panhandle line toward the west via Chicago. The first train had seven coaches and the second ten. Emigrants arrive from New York weekly and are sent west after landing.
