A joyous masquerade last evening at Stettiner Hall hosted about fifty couples of children in fanciful costumes. Prof and Mrs Galloway led the event with lively music by Morehart and Penba. Edwin Schultz and Miss Railsback opened the grand march in cowhide costumes.
Final plans for the Municipal league convention set daily visitor duties. Morning and afternoon reception committees on the 19th list Joseph Reitemeier as chair and includes Victor Wise Harry Elliott Julius Wagner and others. Evening 19th committee chaired by Q A Myers includes George P McKee A G Jenkins and more. Morning 20th at Country Club chaired by George P Bliss with several members to be supplied. Afternoon 20th committee led by Charles Rirvleben and others.
Mrs. Rebecca Wilson testified before Prosecutor Custer and filed an affidavit accusing Martha Johnson aged 14 of striking her four year old son. Harvey N. Wilson asked to have his two sons sent to reform school claiming they steal money at night.
Ee Fe Gilbert, a workman at the Panhandle min track shops, mashed his hand yesterday morning when a wrench slipped and caught his hand between it and a draw bar.
Postmaster Johnston has a list of sixteen who passed the clerk and carrier exam held at the high school two months ago. Roscoe McGinnis led with 87.70 percent, followed by Esther Johnston at 83.70. Remaining passers include James H. Smith 81.50, William Geyer 81.50, Louis P. Denner 80.70, and others ranging from 79.60 to 71.30 with Marietta Poole and Orion Wetherow among them.
Mrs. Mayme Brettell declares she is entitled to the secretary treasurer post of the International Woman's Labor League and will fight the matter in court. She cites General Grant tactics and rejects compromise, while Miss Anna Fitzgerald leads the opposing side as president of the Woman's Label League. The mandamus case was set for today but delayed by a bigger will-contest case. Mrs. Anna R. B. Field arrives to observe as a contestant joined by local lodge members.
A loaded freight car on train No. 8 derailed near Frankfort after a journal broke, derailing one car and blocking the main track for two hours. The Vandalia local wreck crew responded to the incident and cleared the line.
Culver hosts a busy week with Black Horse Troop rough riding artillery and pontoon bridge work. Twenty nine graduates receive diplomas as honor men are named for spelling shooting cavalry and athletics with cadet captains Faulks Moore and Duncan to be noted in the Army Register.
Spring and Howard take ownership of the Murdock hotel after late negotiations with Chicago buyers. A receiver was dismissed, George Lynas designated provisional receiver but did not file a bond. The new proprietors plan an electric elevator refurnish the hotel and increase capacity from 87 to 120 rooms.
The Logansport jury awarded Lyman O Smith administrator $1500 against the City of Logansport for the death of David Judson Smith. The verdict found the city negligent for high tension wires crossing Berkley street near the Panhandle tracks and in contact with telephone wires. Smith was electrocuted while telephoning from the yard office. Kistler & Kistler and Geo W Funk represented the parties.
Five members of the Marion Chess club arrived in the city and handed the locals a severe beating. Of all games played the locals won only two and a half. Three regulars were absent, weakening the hometown team. This marks the locals second heavy defeat.
The Woman's Home Missionary society of the Broadway M E church will meet Friday at 2 30 PM in the church parlors. Members are requested to attend as officers will be elected.
The president named Mrs. M. F. Mahoney Mrs. Charles Yarlott and Miss Frances Landis to the auxiliary house committee. The group met with the house committee at the club house this afternoon at 4 o clock to plan arrangements for the coming year.
Judge Larry presides as Deloss Bigger challenges his mother's will in circuit court. He contends undue influence and mental unsoundness affected the document directing most of the estate to his aunts and uncles rather than him. Guardian appointed for Helen Graffis money proceeds to be turned over to him.
Tonight in Kokomo local candidates Ross Gilmore Glrn Winstow Leonard Artist and Wallace Collins join the Kokomo colored K of P lodge initiation. Logansport lodge members George Hodge George Mabry Israel Hughes Fred Gilmore Harry Gilmore Harry Brooks and Erwin Cordell will attend.
Rev Silas Masteller resigns from Young America and moves to New Waverly to take the pastorate of the New Waverly Christian church. His transfer marks a new chapter in his religious leadership.
Ralph Clark of Anderson, president of the state Retail Merchants Association, spoke to in city last night in the north court room. Carl Wise was elected chairman as merchants agreed to plan further steps to organize and shield members from deadbeats.

In Robert Cromer et al v city the motion to make the complaint more specific was overruled. George Harrison v Maude Winegardner has been dismissed. Montraville Simmons must pay 25 into court for his wife’s defence in their divorce suit. William Graffis named guardian of Helen Graffis. Fort Wayne & Wabash Valley Traction Co compromised with her for injuries. funds go to the guardian.
Grades for the federal building custodian and fireman exams released. Wil lard Pixler led with 86.40, followed by G. W. Plummer 80, David Lee 72, and W. H. Slagle 70.20. Offices closed now, but finalists remain in line for vacancies.
Former railroad worker H H Lewis has taken a yard brake job with the Panhandle Railway, marking a career move into a critical switching role. Details on start date and location were not disclosed.
Plans for the new St Joseph hospital by Adrian and Adrian of St Louis were received by Attorney M I Sullivan and shown in Hooley and Tucker window. The three story building at Twenty Fifth and High will have thirty six wards and an operating room of marble and glass. Grounds are ready and funds largely raised. construction will start once contract is let, with sewer drainage still unresolved and a possible cess pool needed.
Robert Jolly 40 killed his nine year old daughter Gladys by pouring carbolic acid down her throat yesterday morning in Indianapolis. The mother was hospitalized and unaware at the time. The housekeeper heard a struggle and found Jolly forcing the poison before the child died. Jolly fled.
George Fettig of Grove Street received word from Schwab Company Chicago that he earned a Liberty Bell bronze medal for high scholastic achievement. In fifth grade at Jefferson School his average reached 92 percent.
Public works board orders extension of water mains on Miami avenue from Sycamore to North Sixth street after a residents petition. Superintendent to investigate and work to commence immediately.
Two freight trains collided yesterday afternoon at Lincoln. Engineer Richey of this city sustained a broken arm. Both trains remained on the tracks and the wreck crew cleared the line.
