Fort Wayne Division of Brotherhood Locomotive Engineers plans a large social gathering for engineers and families from Ohio Indiana and Michigan. Logansport hosts invitees and national officers may attend. the date, late August, is not fixed yet and this will be a historic first for such a meeting.
Misses Margaret Rogers Meliggy Myers and Eloise Wilson of this city attend the Culver Military Academy commencement exercises. The program began with a cadet band concert and will close Thursday with diploma awards. A grand parade occurred this morning and a dance is set for 9 this evening. Graduating Indiana young men include William Robert Higgins Theodore Clapp Jones and William Lewis Temple Jr.
William Duncan, operator of a repair shop at 502 North Street, files an affidavit against Delphi resident Newbold. Duncan says Newbold worked Saturday night, returned Sunday, stole a brae and bit plus a chair section, and sold the chair piece to a woman who repaired it and left town.

Grover Hiers, sixteen, was arrested yesterday afternoon on charges of criminally assaulting Hazel Crom, twelve. The alleged attack occurred Saturday in a field. He is held for the grand jury on a $500 bond.
Rodney Strain treasurer of the Memorial day celebration returned 17.50 to Controller Middleton yesterday. The funds were part of an appropriation not expended and the economy measures were noted in the report.
Jordan Hecht and John F. Johnson settled a $5000 note dispute that hung in circuit court for over a year. Hecht received about $2500 after attorneys agreed. judgment against Hecht was entered and litigation ceased.
Local residents set up summer camps along the Wabash river between Logansport and Georgetown. With improving weather many plan to spend the season riverside, building comfortable camps with mail boxes and river access, though high water has hindered fishing.
John Schmitt city engineer bought the Oldsmobile formerly owned by Dr Hetherington. The sale was made to a second party in Burnettsville. Schmitt uses the machine in city engineering work.
Miss Helen Sullivan returns home after visiting Kokomo as guest of her parents Mr. and Mrs. John Sullivan.
Miss Lavina Knowlton of this city forges ahead in Indianapolis creating beautiful guest book bindings. She studied under Mrs. Murphy and produced a wood carved mermaid cover with embroidered border by Miss May Dodds of Peru. A second leather binding was made entirely by Knowlton. Photographs of her work have appeared in metropolitan papers.
Attorneys A G Jenkines and D D Fickle traveled from Oconto Wisconsin after handling the will of William Chase uncle of Dudley H Chase. Local beneficiaries each received four thousand dollars in partial distribution including Mrs D H Chase Mary Chase Charles D Chase Ruth Chase Louise P Chase James Chase Mrs George Chase and son Edwin Mrs John M Johnston and Mrs Rosenthal and Will Chase of Indianapolis.
The board of public works ordered gutter repairs on Eleventh Street between Spear and George streets. Street Commissioner Ed Truax will immediately reset washed‑out stones caused by recent rains.
Panhandle passenger train No. 21 bound east arrived nearly an hour late in the city due to two hot boxes causing the delay this afternoon.
The Fulton county project to finish the Gault ditch was awarded to M. B. Spencer of Monticello by A. C. Davison. Spencer bid ten and a quarter cents per cubic yard for the upper section and nine to nine tenths for the lower section, totaling 454,684.40. Other bidders included J. A. Flack O. O. McDonald John McAndrews C. H. Sternberg & Sons Kramer Bros Ora E. Shafer J. J. Brumbaugh William Gundrum and Farmer and Yeoman.
The state convention of dentists will be held in Indianapolis this week. Dr. Bozer and others from the city are expected to attend. Many papers by researchers will be presented and the meeting will close Friday night with a banquet.
Elders of the First Presbyterian Church met to keep Rev. B B Bigler from leaving. They praised his faithfulness and vowed to persuade him to stay, but he desires to return to his farm and work the soil.
R. E. Ballenger, a Valparaiso graduate, has been elected principal of the Walton schools. He comes well recommended and is described as the right man for the role.
George Lynas was named receiver of the Murdock hotel in circuit court this morning after a motion for venue change was dismissed. Spriggs and Howard, Chicago hotel owners, negotiated with the receiver for a possible purchase in McConnell Jenkines office. no final deal at press time.
John Moss Robert Carney and Torin Winegardner were appointed viewers for the Jefferson township road with a review date set for June 20. Marie Dolan county clerk stenographer is made a deputy authorized to sign Harry Elliott's name on official documents as power of attorney filings are recorded. Christian Wendling filed a circuit court suit against John Ti demanding quiet title.

William Beck aged forty four died by his own hand yesterday morning at Jones hardware store in Peru. It was his second attempted suicide and no motive is known for the death.
Miss Catherine Haas has returned after visiting friends in Wabash. She toured the town and reported pleasant social events during her trip.

William Hudson, a cement worker, received a telephone message yesterday claiming his son was shot at Lake Cicott. The boy later appeared, uninjured, saying he had been playing along Wabash avenue. the rumor’s origin remains unknown.
T N Vail formerly district superintendent of the American Telephone and Telegraph company with headquarters here is now at the head of the company.
