A pile of refuse by Wiler & Co. at Fourth and Broadway sparked a small fire. Seven minutes later a stove fire in Mrs. Findling’s home at 1422 Wright Street caused smoke and a pot of burning peas. Firefighters promptly battled both blazes. no injuries or major damage reported.
F. A. Updegraff T. F. Powell E. E. Davis and J. M. Burnell of Longcliff returned from a vacation at Chapman's Lake seven miles northeast of Warsaw with about 150 pounds of specklers bluegills ringers and straw bass. They danced to music from T. E. Powell and James H. Poulson. E. E. Davis lost and recovered his pocketbook full of money and his round trip ticket on the way home.
Monroe Kaiser of the old Murdock farm reports a small bay mare with a broken halter grazing in his front yard at dawn. He says the horse appears to have escaped from an unknown location and asks the rightful owner to call and claim it.

Hildebrandt and Jordan contest ownership, but city attorneys say the sewer is now part of the municipal system. The saloon project is dead, but the sewer squabble remains ongoing and tense.
North bound Vandalia freight No. 60 driven by Conductor Grove and Engineer Ringleben derailed after an axle failed. Nine cars piled in a heap, track blocked, Terre Haute wreck train wrecked en route, Loransport train arrived to clear the line. No injuries to the crew. all local workers returned home exhausted but safe.
Mrs Nancy Unkeier of Lance Ohio is the guest of Mr R C Unkefer of 115 Melbourne Avenue. The brief social note records a domestic visit between surnames Unkeier and Unkefer in Ohio with address detail.
John Jones of Dayton, age 66, was arraigned on intoxication and testified milk caused his drunken behavior after an electrical storm. He described pink elephants on telegraph wires, floating sewing machines, and comic visions before Judge Smith discharged him with orders to leave town.
Miss Etha Massena becomes Logansport’s first female civil service employee at the post office, filling the startup clerk role after Eli March moves to mailing and distributing. The change adds one new local post office position, with Massena noted as the last woman hired under the civil service law. Mounted carrier W. H. Hedrick is listed as sick today.
Waldo E. Gallana of Moray filed in the circuit court at Delphi a petition to restrain Flora town the Flora Water Works company and the National Construction company from installing the water works plant at Flora. He alleges the contract letting was illegal.

Mahlon Snyder admitted guilt to one charge of intoxication and assault and battery in Judge Custer's office, paid one dollar fine plus costs, and had the other charge dismissed after affidavits were filed Saturday by Con stable Widner of Walton. Ben Deidrick faces similar charges but has not been located.
