The ten year old son of Mr and Mrs Daniel Prosch fell twenty five feet from a stone embankment along the river near the Corner Track factory. He bound a wet cloth to a deep head wound and walked home two miles for medical help. Eleven stitches were required to close the gash and he is now doing nicely with a full recovery hoped.
The nine year old son of John Vore, living near Onward, was injured when a rifle discharged after the boy picked up a gun left in a fence corner. The shot damaged his right hand and knee, with his little finger entirely severed. Dr. A D Snider treated the wounds.
Chicago motorists returning from a planned 1000 mile journey to Mammoth Cave abandoned the trip at Indianapolis due to bad roads and bridgeless streams. The group caused accidents including a fatal horse incident near Lafayette when a binder horse driver died after a run away horse damaged the machine.
A Peruvian king by profession and an engineer on the Wabash borrowed a friend’s car to visit local friends. After a pleasant day he got lost returning home climbing Cass County hills and Pipe Creek falls. He finally reached Peru at five o'clock yesterday morning after crossing the Lake Erie track at Hiner's bluff.
Monday evening a party of five or six lads performed daring dives from the Market street bridge top, entertaining a crowd gathered in front of the pavilion. The youths executed the stunt with apparent ease, showing little concern for the danger, as they plunged into the water below.
Early today a group of laborers under Manager McNary of the Wabash River Traction lines began tearing up Fifth and Market streets to shelter Erie avenue cars at the Fifth street power station. They were ordered to stop and replace the bricks by Indiana Union Traction officials, delaying permanent construction until next week.

Patrolman Wermess found the door to Frank Barr’s grocery on Sycamore Street open during rounds early morning. He checked the store, notified the proprietor on West Broadway, and the keyholder reported the door left ajar by mistake with no loss or damage evident.
Mrs William Whitemeyer sustained a serious scalp laceration after a fall on stairs Sunday. The injury required more than twenty stitches to close. She is now reported to be getting along nicely.
Flora residents announce a big Saturday event with a townwide celebration. Local entertainers are known in Flora and many from the city are expected to attend the exercises.

Arthur Bennett a Panhandle railroad worker fled up the Fourth street Jordan building stairs to avoid discovery by his wife after an evening with a paramour. He leaped fifteen feet through a closed rear window landing on stones in the alley and suffered severe cuts. Dr. Hetherington stitched thirty wounds as Bennett faced wife and child at the scene and then returned home to be chastened.
Andersen Indiana July 1 Indiana will lead in interurban sleeping cars and introduce buffet cars on the Union Traction system in the west. Deliveries expected by September with cars similar in size to regular coaches but more elaborate in finish. Buffet service to include railway diners and fare about the same as limited cars. Cars run about every two hours with no mid route stops. Union Traction plans also for funeral, refrigerator, milk train and other specialty cars. Funeral cars unlikely for now as they interfere with traffic. Sleeping cars to be added after the line extends to Chicago.
Orlando Powell assumes lead role over the town post office mail wagons with day driver Daniel Skinner and night driver Cecil Orwin assisting. He begins a four year term contracted earlier, succeeding former managing driver John Humes who served two terms.
Henry Shanks arrives from Lathorp Missouri to reunite with his brother Robert whom he had not seen for over forty years. He brings Robert home for a visit here.
Postmaster W W Moss reports June mail for seven rural routes from this city. Delivered: 40 372 pieces including 26 080 newspapers and 9 009 circulars. Collected: 4 527 items. Stamp cancellations value: 8589. This is a notably high total for this time of year.
Fire department responded at 12 15 p m to a roof blaze started by a spark in a blog at 810 Wabash Avenue the cause is under investigation and crews extinguished the flames.
Casualties from recent events include a boy burned by a powder explosion and workers injured at the Panhandle Shops. Lioyd Powell suffered a severe finger mash in an accident, while Charles Wilson, a surveyor for the interurban project, slipped on a broken beer bottle, cutting his knee but avoiding major tendon or joint damage. He received medical treatment from Dr Ballard.
A small blaze was extinguished by chemicals before it gained headway. A hole several feet in diameter burned in the roof. The total loss is estimated at under $50.
United States regular troops and guards from Wisconsin Michigan Indiana and Kentucky will join field maneuvers at West Point next October. About 8000 soldiers are expected to participate on the 28000 acre ground praised as ideal for large scale exercises. Colonel Arthur L. Wagner notes earlier sham battles were harmful and stresses real war fare training through Fort Riley like field exercises.

Lloyd Powell son of Mr and Mrs J G Powell of 1729 East North Street suffered a severe finger mash while working at the Panhandle shops a bumper on a passenger coach fell and caught his left hand. He was treated by Dr Hetherington and may face amputation though not yet determined.
At the First Church of Christ, Scientist, the mother church, a Mechanics Building gathering heard growth reports from around the world. President John W. Reeder presided as cures were cited, including a 15 year cancer and necrosis of hip and ankle. New officers: Rev Irving C. Tomlinson president, William B. Johnson clerk, Stephen A. Case treasurer.
Miss Espie George of Bedford filed a damage suit against Spencer B. Pugh alleging breach of promise. She claims she paid 6000 for 33 building lots, worth double, and says Pugh profited nearly 4000. She cites wedding preparations for June 16 and names Walter of Chicago as lot owner.
Hammond Indiana celebrates a new labor settlement system after the formation of a city arbitration board. Representatives from the Business Men's association manufacturers and trades unions share power with a fifth arbitrator chosen to break ties. Decisions serve as a final court of appeal by agreement to prevent strikes or lockouts.
Carl Anderson, son of Mr and Mrs FE W Anderson of East North street, was badly burned on face and hands yesterday afternoon while playing with gun powder. He placed powder on paper and struck a match. The explosion occurred before he could retreat.
The twelve year old son of Ed Alexander sustained serious facial and eye burns when a premature powder explosion occurred today. Several powder grains lodged in the eye raising concerns for his sight.
The child of William Butts is recovering after a recent illness, with signs of improvement noted by family.
A bread wagon driven by George Strecker Jr overturned while turning a corner near the Dowling foundry around noon. Strecker was aboard but suffered no serious injuries.

Trustees and faculty of Rush Medical College in Chicago prepared to report today on their bid for 1,000,000 dollars to make the school an integral part of the University of Chicago. The fund’s midnight deadline passed with rumors that the full amount was not raised, while an extension from the university was anticipated this afternoon. The effort follows an agreement made when affiliation articles were signed two years ago.
