Hoppe administratrix Mary 1D Hoppe has filed a final report showing after debts are paid the estate will yield 9458.99 dollars for creditors and 7236.87 dollars for distribution among heirs.
Herbert Keys, local decorator, has finished tinting the Crescent club rooms in gold and rue. The rooms feature newly hung pennants totaling $65, adorning the walls and adding festive color for the club’s activities.
The local bowling team prepares for a public match against the Peruvians tomorrow night at the Elks alleys. United States Marshal Watts seized sixty eight cases of maple sirup shipped to Webster Grocerv company from Western Reserve Sirup company of Cleveland. An order by Secretary Wilson prompted the action. A hearing before Judge Wright in March will determine charges of violating the pure food law.
Miss Carrie Smith aged twenty two a waitress at the Johnston hotel was taken to the Home for the Friendless yesterday for care. She has been ill since Sunday and has no friends in the city to assist her. She formerly lived in Toledo and came to this city from Royal Centre.
In circuit court Laura Robertson and Lucia Loiacono pursue divorce from faithless husbands. Loiacono wed Dominic Loiacono May 11, 1906. he left next day and hasn’t been found. Robertson says Jefferson Robertson deserted February 1900 and March 1906, seeks $500 alimony and to resume her maiden name Laura Gable.
A list of high school students who have no tardies or absences and a grade of eighty five or higher are excused from final examinations. Names include Mary, Wilbur, Walter, Hiram, Belle, Gertrude, Hazel, Nellie, Blanche, Royden, Anna, Wallace, Finna, Frederick, Adah, Albert, Nellie, John, Mary, and Mary Zartman.
Dr J P Hetherington while teaching Dr A L Palmer to drive a Maxwell automobile visited a patient at Kenneth quarries. A negro worker’s feet were mashed by a falling stone injuring him seriously as small accidents occur daily in the quarries. Max Becker administers medicines in the commissary department.
H. B. Tousley chief dispatcher for the Panhandle went to Hartford City to conduct the annual examination of telegraph operators. Twenty four Bradford division operators gathered for testing while operators on other divisions will be examined.
A petition for a county option election filed with County Auditor George W. Cann shows 3,361 signatures. Farmers from Adams and Washington townships led signers, with many Logansport residents and few big merchants signing. A Saturday temperance mass meeting at the courthouse will organize county leadership. E. S. Sawmaker of Indianapolis will speak.
Moving pictures showing boys playing in the streets were admitted as evidence in a damage suit against the Coney Island and Brooklyn Railroad. Plaintiff Stephen McGorty seeks 50000 for injuries after being ejected for fare nonpayment on March 17, 1905. A witness described films of the boy later that year depicting him in races and boxing.
The Crescent club ordered a play from a Chicago firm to be presented in Stettiner hall this spring. The cast is all men and includes several members who have appeared in other plays, indicating notable talent within the club.
Judge M B Lairy will speak to the high school assembly February 12. Lincoln memorial services will be held and all schools will observe the day.
Judge Quincy A. Myers will deliver an address before the McKinley club in Indianapolis tomorrow evening. The event highlights Myers’ speech before a local civic group and community leaders.
