Dead Body Found In Foundry Yard In Quirky Tragedy
Richard Lynch aged fifty was found dead in a shed behind the Dowling foundry on Railroad street. A group of boys suspecting drunken sleep poked him and learned he was stiff and cold. The coroner attributed death to pneumonia from exposure after heavy drinking. Lynch leaves a brother Patrick in the county infirmary. Sword of Washington Sold to Morgan in Baltimore
J Pierpont Morgan of New York bought the sword Washington wore when resigning as commander in chief in Annapolis in 1783 from Miss Virginia Wise of Baltimore. Morgan may present the relic to the Mr Vernon association. The price is undisclosed though senate bids once suggested 25000 dollars. The rapier features a silver filigree handle and guard, a white parchment scabbard, and a green ribbon belt.
