Panhandle conductor Samuel Patton was killed in the Panhandle yard shortly after 4 0'clock while clearing a snow blocked switch for a north bound freight. The accident occurred near Fourteenth street as the caboose rolled over him after he stopped to clear the switch. He left his home at Twentieth and Marke streets earlier to prepare the train for departure to Chicago. Patton, married a year ago with two children, was with the company about five years and highly regarded by fellow railroad workers.
