Panhandle Train Kills Farm Hand Near Crown Point
John Wurtz, 30, a farm hand from Town Point, was struck and killed by Panhandle train No 7 at Crown Point at 6 40 AM. Engineer George A Fairman braked but could not avoid the fatality as Wurtz, wearing muffled ears in the cold, failed to hear the locomotive. The body was taken to Crown Point after the train halted.
