John Neely a longtime head of the Logansport gas plant was shot and killed in Raney Kansas by real estate dealer A Truskett over an Indian oil lease dispute. Neely, who had planned a world trip with his wife, died instantly in the Kaney hotel back room. Neely had moved from Logansport in 1895 and later operated oil and gas interests in Kansas.
