Anna Martin a Logansport domestic was arrested for intoxication after claiming whiskey helped cure a cold. Police uncover a band of young thieves operating in the area. Martin says she bought several drinks to fight a cold and cannot recall her actions. a hearing is set before Justice Kloenne tomorrow morning.
Police uncovered a gang of youths under twelve preying on city shops during the holidays. Isaac Penheimer stopped a boy named Rush in a ring theft at the Boston store. The kid admitted others are scouting stores for small items and warned merchants may act if thefts continue.
Mrs Casper Bennett aged 45 of Bethlehem township fell while returning from the mailbox and struck her head on the board walk fracturing her skull. Dr W D Milroy of the city attended and she is now rapidly recovering after a serious concussion.
A new partnership named Walters & Long, Attorneys at Law, opens January 1 on Rogue's Row. Senior partner Walters has long prosecuted cases in Logansport, while Benjamin F. Long, newer to law, rose quickly, taught at Indiana University for two years, and returned last spring to practice, building substantial client base.
The musical performer known as the coon, once jailed for intoxication and disturbing the peace by singing, has been shipped to Peru. Maxwell, who attempted to halt a local performance of Uncle Tom's Cabin, argued the portrayal was unmercifully violent.

The Wabash Railroad announces changes in its division officers including Alexander Robertson becoming general manager of the St. Louis terminals at 7500 dollars annually. H. G. Clark moves to fill the Baltimore post. The middle division superintendent role is vacant and several candidates are named among Wabash officials.
Wells county officials lost their case seeking 3119 in fees and perquisites taken by ex Sheriff George W Huffman. Judge Vaughn ruled the county owes Huffman 800 net, rejecting experts and aligning with a recent Supreme Court decision on clerks.
Captain Fitch and Lieutenant Thomas delivered the application and examination papers for a new national guard company to Indianapolis. Seventy eight have passed the examination, within two of the required number.
George Prescott 40, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert J. Prescott, was killed in a C. and E. I. Railway wreck at Tangin near Brazil Indiana last night. He previously worked as an engineer on the Vandalia and joined the C. and E. I. in September. He leaves two sons Paran and Paul aged 15 and 10 living with their mother in South Bend. He was a member of Tipton lodge F and A M and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen.
Engineer Chapman saw the open derail too late as a Vandalia engine shoveled a freight into Logansport. The light train derailed at Clymer's theater about 5 am yesterday, was ditched, and despite attempts to stop it, could not be halted. Section men moved the locomotive back on the rails after hours of work. no damage occurred.
Assistant Solicitor Frederick Van Dyne has compiled a 400 page volume containing all state and national court and department decisions on citizenship. The work will be used by consuls immigrant inspectors and other U S officials to resolve citizenship questions. Hugh Bowman aged ninety of Fulton county dies at home. A veteran Odd Fellow of Logansport for sixty four years he is described as the oldest Odd Fellow in Indiana and possibly the nation. He was a devout Methodist and a temperance man.
