The tree stood on Robert Weir’s desk in the superintendent’s office where officials and clerks collected their gifts. Albert Allen, the building’s colored custodian, received an ebony doll.
George B. Forgy and Alice Forgy with Glen Forgy filed suit today against County Treasurer Matthew Moroney County Auditor George Cann and County Assessor Harry G Warrick to cancel tax assessments on certain properties.
A second counterfeit twenty dollar bill was found in the city and police have a description of the passer. Brockman, who received the bill at his Sycamore street saloon, and LaOrange, who handed one at a Burlington avenue grocery, match the suspect description. Merchants are warned to reject suspect notes during holiday rush.
Superintendent I. A. Battenburg says the 12:40 owl car will run tonight on Broadway to aid late shoppers. Regular Sunday schedule will be kept Monday and car men will observe Christmas Day.

Charles Barnes was arrested for intoxication, denied being drunk, found guilty, fined $1 and costs, and released on his own recognizance.
The Daily Reporter will issue at noon on Monday to grant staff a half day off. Most stores banks saloons and railroad offices will be closed for Christmas. The paper extends season’s greetings to its patrons.

Services at St Vincent and St Bridget churches start tomorrow at 4:00 AM and run to 10:10 AM. St Joseph church begins at 6:40 AM and continues to 10:36 AM.
Officials plan a new round house in the city to replace the small current facility which cannot accommodate larger engines. The project aims to improve storage and operations for the railroad fleet.
Captain S H Anderson and ten volunteers started distributing prepared baskets to five person dinners. Each basket holds potatoes turnips canned goods fruit cranberries celery and meat. Some baskets include chickens for destitute families. A citywide delivery wagon continues as funds from today support gifts for a Christmas tree event next Wednesday at the G A R hall for city children with stockings.
