Henry A Long through Justice Guthrie sues West Side Foundry after a night shift accident. He alleges poor lighting and a misplaced stack of castings caused him to fall while moving a loaded wheelbarrow, crushing his leg and leaving lasting injuries. The complaint seeks $2000.
J G Powell newly elected senator and former auditor heads a crowd at the auditor’s office in the courthouse as plans emerge to mine Wyoming asphalt and form a Logansport company with a million dollar capitalization. George B Gonser and Dr M A Jordan with two state senators back the project after state geologist Blatchley reports the sample nearly twice Trinidad purity.
About 90 000 affidavits seek mortgage deductions in Indiana as courts clash over the law. County auditors and treasurers prepare tax duplicates for next year. Attorney General W L Taylor instructs to apply the Indiana ruling and show deductible amounts on the duplicates despite pending U S Supreme Court action.

In all Fort Wayne diocese churches a letter from Bishop Alerding commends parishioners for generosity to orphans and charitable charges. About 300 orphans are cared for. Christmas collections support them. Total charitable contributions reach 21,000 dollars year to date.
The high school entertainment committee presents the farce Six Cups of Chocolate on the last day of school. B C D Read ex mayor of Logansport reports the death of his sister in law Mrs May W Read a renowned southern educator. She founded a Baton Rouge college before the war and educated daughters of prominent Louisiana families. The college served as a hospital during the conflict and she led it until retirement at ninety. Funeral plans unknown to local relatives.
The Order of American Piowmen holds a regular meeting tonight at eight then installs officers at 8:30 with public invitation extended.
Miss Lizzie Homburg and attorney George W Walters learn by telegram from Robert Collins that a three months old child of the family died in Centralia Illinois and the remains will be brought here for burial with funeral services at 2:30 Wednesday.
A horse driven by veteran breaker Bill Childs bolted on Fourth street this morning after a break in the trainer’s line. The frightened animal toppled a buggy rider, wrecked vehicles, and crashed into a United States mail wagon near Panhandle station before being recaptured and returned to the trainer.
Indianapolis and Marion County lawyers seek a legislative bill to create a commission appointed by the governor to revise and codify Indiana statutes. The last complete revision occurred in 1871, with later lawmakers enacting many amendments repeals and new laws, creating a scattered code.
Annis Burke advanced to managing editor of the Marion Chronicle after two years as city editor. He began in Logansport with the Logansport Times, then spent ten years at the Indianapolis Sentinel as reporter and assistant city editor before joining Marion Chronicle where he now leads editorial work.
A Boston store staff recovered $210 from the floor after a customer dropped it. A woman returned claiming she had lost $220 from her chatelaine purse. $210 was returned, the remaining $10 was not found. The store had been busy all day.
Sheriff Went, Mont Hathaway, and C. C. Ross of Winamac were in the city today for unspecified business, drawing local attention to their visit.
Prof. Keating, a schoolteacher, filed a damages suit against Solomon HaFhess, a well known farmer of the Young America district, seeking compensation after being whipped by a buggy whip. The action follows the long brewing dispute and marks the climax of the case.
The R R Y M C A Get Him One club held a banquet at the New Murdock hotel closing the August initiated campaign to recruit Railroad Y M C A members. Secretary Benning praised railroad men for fearlessness fidelity and generosity while Fireman H H Fell celebrated plans for a larger building with baths reading rooms and sleeping lodgings. He proposed a new central Y M C A costing about twenty thousand dollars with hopes for completion within a year through strong railroad support.
Keating sues Sol Harness for 16000 dollars claiming he was whipped on a public highway on December 2 and beaten until unconscious. The horse was also struck causing it to bolt and injure Keating further, leaving him ill and not expected to fully recover.
Members of the Get-Him-Oners Y M C A club celebrated completing a membership drive that added one new member. A banquet for seven ty guests featured a full menu and speeches praising the association’s progress, led by toastmaster Dr. J P Hetherington. Nelson W Benning noted membership rose from 100 to 375 under his administration.
Invitations issued for a December 30 banquet at the Hotel English Indianapolis in honor of retiring federal judge John H. Baker of the district of Indiana. Addison C. Harris will preside. Speakers include Judge Baker, Judge A B Anderson, Judge Palmer of Monticello, State Bar president, Allan Zellers of Fort Wayne, Charles L. Jewett of New Albany, C C Shirley of Kokomo, and others.

John Downham aged 83 of Deer Creek died yesterday at 4 15 p m from consumption and old age. Funeral at Mt Pisgah Lutheran church with interment at Plank Cemetery. Elizabeth Barnes widow of Thomas Barnes died this morning at 409 Broadway. funeral plans not yet made. Emma Ream's body transported to Kokomo for funeral conducted today.
Mr and Mrs J F Roach of Chicago will arrive tomorrow to be guests of Mrs Roach's parents Mr and Mrs John Norzinskay during the holidays.
Catherine Babb, 84, sues I N Crawford hardware and the city of Logansport for 1500 in damages after a fall on a sidewalk east of the Crawford building. She alleges workers displayed wire fencing on the sidewalk causing her to trip and suffer head injuries and ruptured vessels. The city is named a defendant for alleged knowledge of the hazard.
The Sipe theater in Kokomo threatens to sue the Pris oner of Zenda company over the Christmas cancellation. The Logansport transfer could block the appearance and force damages. Shipman Brothers face injunction and possible court action in Cass County to settle terms before dissolution.
The Knight habeas corpus case was dismissed by the plaintiff this morning just as the circuit court judge prepared to rule. This afternoon an amended complaint was filed in a similar case by Attorney Walters and Larry & Mahoney.
