Obenchain absconding case yields no new twists. Bondsmen for El der F. Obenchain will pay deficits from both terms, with second term bonds proposing first term bonds share the cost. No expert contracts yet, and banks weigh personal bonds to guarantee county funds.
The post office reports a heavy Christmas mail flow with carriers loaded and return trips difficult. Extra help will be needed in the coming days to manage the surge or risk slower deliveries.
A morning smoke from the school furnace filled classrooms at the Eighth Street school, forcing dismissal until flue problems were fixed. The fault was corrected and classes resumed in the afternoon.
Eckie Cahill, arrested on complaint of his mother for beating her, was released this morning after arraignment when she refused to prosecute. Neighbors called police as Cahill returned home intoxicated and began a disturbance, throwing dishes and assaulting his mother.
Retiring township officers met yesterday morning in John Sinneman's office as fourteen new trustees prepared to take office January 1. The list includes Andrew B Irwin Adams Lorenzo Shafer Horace Funk Ira Manudlin Willard Briggs James Cree H C Cushman John W Winn George Calloway O M Shirley Adam Rockfield Philip Busard Edgar Phillips and C I Seybold. All have bond their four year duty begins.
Miss Elsie Anderson a Bell telephone exchange worker wed Laf ayette city engineer Anton Anderson in a secret ceremony in South Bend. The couple’s marriage was later announced as she returned to Muncie, planning to move to Lafayette early next year.
Charles Mode a Panhandle blacksmith badly injured by a flying steel piece two weeks ago was moved from St. Josephs hospital to his home on Nineteenth street. Though not well, he can have his wound cared for at home. The forehead gash will leave a lasting scar and his left eye appears uninjured.
A busy circuit court docket includes a Royal Center barroom furniture possession case to be tried after the Burgman vs Webster et al trial. Condemnation proceedings to test right of way for Indianapolis Northern Traction are slated for juror action tomorrow. Milwaukee Tool Co. won a verdict of 1045.73 against D M Watts for claimed tool sales profits.
Special attention will be paid to Santa Claus Thursday and all letters from children received by Wednesday evening December 21 will be printed in the Reporter. Children are urged to send their Santa letters at once for inclusion as Santa will be on hand Thursday afternoon to receive them.
A club of six Logansport business men including John Hildebrandt and Harry Case plan to order a new auto model believed superior to others. Lawmakers in the state legislature prepare to curb fast driving by auto and to regulate rural roads with stricter speed limits, amid urging from country districts.
Thomas Gemmill of Logansport among injured after a Rock Island engine burst its boiler near Davenport Iowa. Engineer M Calhoun and Fireman H Kinney killed. Gemmill and others hospitalized in Moline. Telegrams to Mrs Gemmill report no serious injury, with kin notified in Indiana and Illinois.
Miss Edna Walters is due to arrive home today from DePauw University to spend the Christmas holidays with her family.
Railroads set next Saturday as the start of holiday rates with Christmas on Sunday. Passenger men fear travel will be hampered by limited trains and short notice of the rate, causing delays reaching smaller towns. They do not expect heavy holiday business this year.

A. L. Whalton, former resident, arrives from Arizona to visit Dr. J. L. Gilbert. He has found gold and silver mines in the Black and Cerbat mountains near Kingman and aims to organize a Logansport group to develop the mines. He predicts a bright future.
Logansport Commercial club signs a city wide petition urging Indiana lawmakers to pass the railroad commission bill. The move, supported by Senator Powell and Representative Berndt, aims to curb railroad and express company power and aid shippers statewide.
Mr and Mrs Solomon Fouts announce the approaching marriage of their daughter Clara Fouts to Dr E H Grace to be held at Maple View farm Deer Creek township on Wednesday morning December 28 at 9 o'clock. The bride is sister to Mrs J B Getty of Logansport and has many friends there. The groom is a popular Logansport dentist son of William Grace Market street clothier. After a brief wedding trip they will reside on Bringhurst Street Logansport.
