In Lafayette circuit court Harry Ellis, a jail inmate, testified that George W. Michael hired him to steal Kellogg’s suitcase from the Lahr Hotel check room and deliver metal plates and a map for $5. Michael denied the claim when recalled to the stand as prosecutors and defense argued over admissibility of the evidence. Michael, formerly of Logansport, did not admit the accusation.
