Huntington manhunt for 14 year old Mabel Wright continues as a traveling companion is tracked to Peru and Dana Indiana. Sheriff McCarthy visits Huntington to obtain a photo and publicize the case. A misidentified girl from Huntington sparked a false lead in Dana before returning to Huntington.
Walter Hansen ten year old son of Mrs Mary Hansen of 229 State Street fractured arm and severe bruises after falling from the middle pier of the S C bridge near Rouths packing house. The water broke the fall. Theodore Kramers son a derryman at Longcliff saw the accident and rescued him with a row boat. He was taken home and treated by a physician.
Citizens urge Fort Wayne & Wabash Valley to replace aging Logansport cars with new rolling stock. Letters claim Lafayette and Fort Wayne condemnations send unsafe, rattling cars to Logansport, where riders seek safer, more comfortable service for five cents.
Arthur Troutman, Herbert Keys and Charles Cotner departed yesterday for Michigan after completing unspecified business.
Donaldson and Barnes skip the Republican convention to back George P. McKee for mayor. McKee’s machine faces little opposition as primaries occur tonight and 194 delegates will be chosen Thursday from five wards with representation apportioned by last fall’s vote.

Dr W A Holloway secretary of the city board of health says physicians delay sending birth death and contagious disease returns. August shows nine births seven girls and three boys with more expected. twenty deaths two due to infants under one year. Contagious cases five with one diphtheria death. no houses carded. one patient remains hospitalized.

Mrs Homer Cassabe did not attend her husband’s funeral held here Sunday. She was in Madison Indiana and telegraphed she would appear if the service were delayed a half hour. The delay occurred but she did not come.
Farmers in Jefferson township decide not to drill for oil after initial talks of forming a company. Everett Banta's stock selling effort drew little interest from residents.
Prof. Kineman of Bowling Green Ky speaks at the teachers institute urging older teachers to adopt modern pedagogy and more domestic science and agriculture training for rural students. Enrollment rises to 160 as the session opens with music by E. B. McConnell and a lecture by F. S. Lunt, listing enrolled teachers.
Miss Ursie Hikins a deacon visits Mrs Martha Ganter at East Spear Street as guest for a social call and tea.
Judge V C Hanawalt ruled William Wyatt could build a thirty six inch fence between his property and Joseph Craig without owing damages. Craig claimed fifteen dollars for not erecting a forty eight inch fence and lost his bid for costs as Wyatt had built and rebuilt the fence at his own expense.
B F Davis of 705 Race street claims a record long bean. He brought a 36 inch German bean to the Reporter office, noted as an ordinary bean picked early. Davis believes others in his patch may surpass the length.
The Board of Works directs Fort Wayne and Wabash Valley Traction to paint all poles green and of uniform size on Broadway. A permit is issued to Ira B. Howard for an Eat sign on Sycamore, Augusta Walters gains a Mt Hope lot deed, Hugh Smith gets a Wheatland Ave remodel permit, and Dr. J W Ballard must build cement sidewalks at Twenty second and Market.
James S. Jarrett killed himself after shooting his wife and firing at his son in Indianapolis. He had intended a triple tragedy, as a letter to his father in law, Edward Martin, details his plan to kill Nellie, his grandson James, and himself.
Leander Fortner, who disappeared six years ago, surprised his wife in this city over Grace clothing store apartments. She had sued in Kokomo for $6,000 Modern Woodmen insurance Fortner carried. He sought access to their fourteen year old daughter but was denied. Fortner planned to file suit in Kokomo to regain custody. He had been a contractor in Kokomo and later an Seattle engineer. He was arrested on wife desertion charges.
Joseph H. Cox of rural route north of town received a telegram that his brother James H. Cox of St. Joseph died of heart failure early today. The deceased formerly lived here and was well known. Arrangements are made for the funeral but the remains may be brought back for burial. Joseph Cox departed this noon for St Joe.
