Royal Centre Indiana prepares for its first annual mid-summer harvest festival with races on Market street, a ball game at Reserve park, a band concert, and attractions like a greased pole and pig. Local visitors and recent residents are noted among the townsfolk and surrounding area.
Mrs. Emma C. Watts filed suit for $600 rent from Samuel W. Trick on her Sixth street building. An attachment suit was started to stop shipping machinery to Chicago. Garnishment sought on Trick’s Logansport State Bank funds. Lease runs to April 1 1910.
The case against Asa Carter and Jacob Abshire city linemen charged by O N Smith with cutting a tree on his property to string electric wires was dismissed for lack of evidence. Smith intends to pursue action in another court.
Miss Lena F. Adams of North Fairfield Ohio will teach science at North Fairfield High School this term replacing the recently resigned Professor Wright. She has been engaged by Professor Douglass to fill the position.
About seventy Logansport residents attended the annual St Ann’s congregation picnic at Grass Creek yesterday. It was described as one of the most enjoyable church picnics in recent memory.
Delegates Bynum Cash Harry Heppe Walter Heppe and Thomas Gillespie from Logansport returned home after a week at a national Thi Sigma Chi convention held three miles from Zanesville Ohio. About 100 fraternity boys attended from Ohio Indiana plus chapters in Lawrence Kansas City and East St Louis with two from Oakland and Berkeley California. The event featured tents indoor meeting space and meals prepared by a Toledo chef. The Logansport group reported no action on high school fraternity restrictions in Ohio Indiana and Illinois.

Michael Spitznogle, a Washington township farmer, was struck by lightning while plowing during a storm. The bolt instantly killed him and three horses. witnesses reported the tragedy as coroner George D. Miller was summoned to Logansport. Spitznogle was a well known local resident.
Miss Sadie Grimes of Chicago is visiting Mrs Charles Herron on Linden Avenue for a social visit.
Indianapolis critics praise The Girl From the U S A at the Nelson Theatre calling it one of the best shows this year. The patriotic musical features a stirring score a strong chorus and a well defined plot.
A Panhandle switch engine jumped yesterday on a side track opposite the ice house and struck a loading pen. The derailed wreck train could not be used due to single track, forcing the section gang to spend most of the day replacing the engine.
A night agent at the Adams Express office awoke to a man outside fumbling with the door key. The figure, a physician, mistook the site for his own office and frantically searched the keyhole, prompting the agent to level his revolver before recognizing the intruder’s identity.

William Killworth of Cherubusco is adjudged insane and will be brought to Longcliff due to sun stroke suffered in Chicago. Henry Maurer of South Bend is also adjudged insane and will be brought to the Cliff.
Mrs. Caroline Wise sustained a slight injury to her left hand this morning at her country home near the Country. The incident was reported as an everyday mishap with no further details available.
Raven Michelle, pitcher for the M. and F. club of this city, joined Marion today to play for the Northern Indiana league squad for the remainder of the season.
Police asked the public to watch for John E. Kisch age 23, 150 pounds, 5 ft 7 in, who fled after stabbing John Nemeth to death during a quarrel at a South Bend dance last night. The investigation continues and officials described the incident as a fatal violence at a social event.

Mrs Homer Cassube formerly Susan Miller nurse of Cleveland arrived in the city and stays with the Cas sube family at 722 Linden avenue awaiting her husband’s remains. The couple were married five days before the husband killed himself after a secretly performed ceremony in Cleveland. She initially said she did not know the reason and vowed to keep the matter secret. Cassabe then went to New York where he killed himself.
Two Noblesville women Mrs. Harrison and Mrs. Pebbles asked police for assistance returning home after riding a Vandalia train by mistake instead of the L. E. and W. excursion to Lake Maxinkuckee. Trustee Murphy paid their tickets as they had no funds.
The first load of stone was dumped this morning for the M. A. Little road in Eel township. Officials expect completion by October 15.
