Mrs Will Tilley of a northeast Logansport farm assaulted Benjamin Tilley, a neighboring veteran, with a stone after a dispute over rumors that Mr Tilley defamed her character. She pleaded guilty in court and paid a fine, with further action anticipated.
Dispatches from the east report Loganport residents engaging in get rich quick schemes with Daniels profiting from about one hundred gullible "easy marks" from the city of Bridges. Names and amounts aren’t listed. a hundred believers each expect ten dollars, draining their funds.
Trustees of Market Street Methodist church issue a speech rule while building the church. Workmen fear failing to guard their speech if a hammer slips and a remark escapes. Stone cutting occurs at the library building with masons working on the church.
Clyde Musselman, a former Logansport representative, arrives in the city in custody from the Jeffersonville reformatory to testify against John Meeks in the December 18 1902 Wabash railroad robbery of Italian section man Panfilio Dinfino. Meeks faces trial before Mayor Vaughn tomorrow and is also suspected in the Eva Hammerty grocery store robbery on Seventeenth Street.
R Matlock resigns as wire chief for the Home Telephone company and returns to his home in South Bend. He is succeeded by F C King of Chicago.

W. H. Drake was arrested last night and charged with impersonating a policeman after visiting several saloons while wearing a helmet. Bar tenders aware of carnival extra police did not act on it. He was arraigned this morning and fined.
George Hartz a machinist in Panhandle shops is confined at home on Toledo street with injuries from a sparring bout near his home last evening. A fast fight caused his right hand to catch in his partner's sleeve and one finger to break. Dr O Leary attended.

Saloonkeepers are repeatedly arrested and fined for liquor law violations, alarming saloon men who consider organizing to protect themselves.
Grenecastie Ind August 25 The most successful summer term at De Pauw university in attendance and work closed Monday. Preparations for the fall term under Vice President Gobin are in progress for a September 24 opening. By then the directors will have paid off the entire debt. President Hughes will arrive around September 1.
The Reliance built a solid lead by the first buoy and finished over a mile ahead of the Shamrock in the latest race. Watchmen confirm the boats' superiority after two uneven days of racing. The third race, expected to decide the outcome, is slated for Thursday with the Reliance finishing at 2 15 and Shamrock ten minutes later.
State ecologist Blatchley of Indianapolis received a letter from Mrs. Louisa McConnelly of Knightstown asking for a price on a wooden cup said to be made by Abraham Lincoln. The passenger engine No. 203, repaired at Vandalia shops, was sent out for a test trip this morning under Engineer Curtis. He piloted it to Columbia City Indiana to gauge performance and determine if it is ready for regular service.
F. E. Chartier and son R. E. Chartier, from Wausau Wisconsin, are in the city visiting Mrs. Lynas of East Broad way.

The nineteen days old son of Mr and Mrs Percy E Sheman died at 722 Race street with the funeral set for Wednesday at 10 am at the residence and Mt Hope cemetery interment.
