Logansport press club seeks a local girl to christen a baby lion from Parker carnival in Mt. Vernon Ohio. The event planned for Tuesday night aims to honor Logansport by naming the cub Logan and featuring wine or milk for the ceremony.
Chicago notes the death of Henry Levender and the suicide of his wife Christiana Levender at their North Humboldt home. A note found near Christiana's seat pleaded to pay debts and join her husband, with five children unaware in the yard. Sister Mrs Olin testified of prior statements to end her life and take the children.
Hanna who once ran the Boston store in this city bought a five and ten cent store in Kokomo two weeks ago and was doing a fine business. A man offered him a good price for the Kokomo store, and he sold it. He has returned to this city.
A street car conductor's money box overturned at Sixth and Broadway, scattering nickels and dimes down a hill. The motorman and conductor stopped the car and spent five minutes collecting the loose change while passengers and a hungry small boy watched nearby.
Corbin Adams, a Cassidy county farmer, was moved to Longcliff by Sheriff Enyart and Deputy Barmar after a night of wandering. He is said to be hopelessly insane and near death from an abscess or cancer, with a week at most to live. Police released several arrestees in custody tied to the circus visit, and unrelated intoxication arrests were logged for John Kane and George Stanley.

The Plank family holds its sixth annual reunion all day at Spencer Park on Wednesday August 2. About 154 relatives are expected, mostly from Camden with some travelers from Peru. Attendance increases each year.

In Warsaw Indiana on August 23 Mr and Mrs Charles Webster and their two year old child perished in a gasoline explosion that triggered a house fire. Mrs Webster lit the fire when a tank exploded and the husband perished while attempting to rescue her. the child died in bed.
Wilbur Winters son of J B Winters reports he and a Washington vocalist left Washington to travel west. They perform in small towns and vaudeville venues, stopping in Dallas Texas and expect to reach the Pacific coast within a month. Winters plans to reunite with his brother Morris in California. Harris Winters is in Long Beach working with an architect.
Dry conditions have scorched Massachusetts woodlands in Worcester and Bristol counties and across Cape Cod. About 7,500 acres burned with 2,500 firefighters deployed. The Douglass woods fire alone has destroyed 5,000 acres and extended into Connecticut.
Carrie Hawley, penniless and detained in Milwaukee county jail, fights a divorce suit by husband Henry J. Hawley who says she is an actress fleeing the state for a 42 week theater tour. Hawley claims she is a laundress and has hidden a child in an orphan asylum. Bond set at 5600. Robert Barth named in statutory divorce action.
Mr and Mrs Robert Burrows announce the birth of a ten pound girl in Manila Philippine Islands. Mrs Burrows formerly Miss Mayme McGrew of this city is the proud mother.
James Lafever his wife and son departed for their home in Winamac after a pleasant visit with Mr and Mrs C T Lafever of 1829 Market Street.
Bessie M. Baker, formerly of the South Side and a hotel waitress, has married Stanford A. Crawford. Friends confuse her with Bessie A. Baker, sister of Dr. Arthur Baker, leading to mistaken congratulations and notices. The mix sparks curiosity and job rumors in the city.
A grand Buffalo Bill show drew a large audience last evening. Colonel Cody appeared on a white charger with flowing hair as troops of many nations marched in review. Indians, Mexicans, European and African soldiers, and Asian performers showcased frontier life and acrobatics.
A fight between Will Williams and Pear Artis, both colored men, broke out at the Barnett hotel last night. Williams fled when manager Keller arrived. he was later arrested. Artis was scratched and bitten, and Williams paid ten dollars.
