Speculation runs high that Dennis Uhl’s attorneys will seek further delay before tomorrow’s injunction hearing. Observers expect changes of venue or новые affidavits may be attempted, though Judge West of Crawfordsville is known for swift rulings and may press to move the issue promptly.
Mrs Murphy died Tuesday morning at a relative's home in Monterey. In Rochester the doctor, preparing for her burial, suffered a fatal stroke hours after her death. Carroll Beall twelve suffered jaw and skull injuries and abdominal wounds when kicked by a horse after a fall riding his bicycle on Court Street. He remained unconscious at St Joseph's hospital since last Saturday and died yesterday, despite doctors' lack of hope.
A gasoline stove fire spread this morning at the far end of Shultztown. The fire department had a longer run than yesterday when called to 1200 Linden Avenue. The stove was tossed into the yard and caused no damage.
A Broadway streetcar struck a farmer's wagon near Hattie Vance's yesterday. George Church, 17, was thrown from the wagon seat and dragged under the wagon as horses reared and dashed. He clung to the reins to keep the team in check until his father halted them, then rose injured with possible internal injuries. The accident halted the car and passengers watched the brave lad tremble from the perilous ordeal.
John Riley seventeen employed at M J Blighs wholesale liquor store had his right foot crushed yesterday afternoon while the elevator was ascending His foot protruded over the edge and was caught by the second floor He was helped by a stenographer who stopped the elevator and he was taken to St Josephs hospital.
State troops in various militia maneuvers caused a funding shortfall with $700,000 allotted but far more troops than expected. The pay department paid those available while late arrivals went unpaid and Congress may be asked to cover the deficit and ensure winter pay.
George Zumbrum, a militiaman from this city, pleaded guilty to throwing acid in the face of Mrs. Ira Vandener north of Tipton last Friday night. Judge Elliott sentenced him to 2 to 4 years in a northern prison and fined $109. He had about $23 cash and $300 in the bank at Winchester. The sheriff moved him to Michigan City, ending a Tipton community sensation.
The Cass County Horsethief Detective association held its annual picnic at Spencer Park with hundreds of members and guests attending. Colonel John Foster and Charles Spry led the event, honoring a period with decreased thefts and increased law enforcement. Plans for the 1907 jubilation were discussed after a successful day of dinner, speeches, and socializing.

Hundreds of crickets on Marion street car tracks last evening caused two collisions. A buggy carrying L. H. Cellins was struck and damaged as brakes failed on slick tracks. An interurban and a city car collided, tearing off a fender on the smaller vehicle.
Jim Alder and Miss Iete Kelley were buggy riding Sunday at Hackett Crossing Tennessee. The item appears in a Hancock County correspondent note from the region.
The Fort Wayne and Wabash Valley Traction company reports its seventy foot Kenilworth streetcar, damaged in the switch 26 wreck near Andrews four to five weeks ago, has been repaired at Huntington shops and will resume active service in a few days.
Caruso a wholesale fruit merchant on Third street distributed several hundred bunches of ripe bananas last night. To prevent spoilage he chose to give the fruit away, with recipients taking them in carts wheelbarrows and by hand.
John Williamson and family leave from Smead Street today heading to Snow Island, Michigan.
The Logansport Chautauqua on Biddle's Island begins tomorrow afternoon at 2 with Dr. John Merritte Driver of Chicago opening the session on Ultimate America. The event promises record attendance aided by the Cass County Teachers Institute and a large tent set for comfort with lighting and a telephone for attendees. The evening program features Dr. Sears, billed as the funniest man on the platform, speaking on More Taffy and Less Epitaphy.

Frank Rance appeared before Judge Custer and pleaded not guilty to shooting Frank Millstead with intent to kill. Held to await September grand jury with $100 bond, as Rance described threats from Millstead and a rock brandished on the day of the shooting on Stanley street. The suspect is Millstead’s wife’s cousin who had been asked to leave the home. Millstead, wounded by four bullets, survived and was seen on the streets again. John Wolpert of Peru reported a man named Frank Annie in Logansport, possibly insane, seen begging money and unknown to local police.
Frank Barnhart filed in the circuit court a petition through Walters and Long seeking a declaration of George Barnhart as sane. George, who lives south of town, had traded horses with a gypsy years ago and the gypsy was later jailed for larceny after George testified. After confessing his earlier false testimony, George faced possible perjury charges, and a new trial for the gypsy was granted before.
Captain Leroy Fitch resigns as captain of Company K after returning from Fort Benjamin Harrison where the company encamped ten days. He will likely be succeeded by First Lieutenant Eugene Huckleberry, with Fitch having been employed in Chicago the past four months.
Edward Scott and attorneys Walters and Long filed in circuit court a petition asking that Elias Bookwalter be declared insane. The paper notes Bookwalter is described as old and decrepit and unable to manage his property.
