Dr. A. W. LaMar of Nashville Tennessee lectures on Dia ia Before and During the War. He portrays a vanished plantation civilization with vivid memories of mammy figures and plantation life. The audience sized crowd responds to dramatic, humorous, and sympathetic depictions of antebellum South.
By tomorrow the board of public works will complete the assessment of benefits and damages to property abutting Sixth street after its recent improvements. Assessments follow the old Artman law with property valued for 165 feet on each side and city paying for street and alley intersections to the property line. Basis ranges from two to sixty percent.
Officer Graham rounded up eight hoboes in the Wa bash railroad yards and sent for the Duley. The wagon hurried to the scene and the men were escorted to the city limits with orders to leave town. One man joked they arrived in style and should depart the same way. They were a bad looking lot.
