Coroner Neff's inquest in Cass County finds Joseph Uncefer died from manslaughter after a fight with William McClack on August 13 1905 in Logansport. McClack denied and was jailed for a preliminary hearing with a defense of self defense and contested death cause pending.
The fate of William McClaeb rests on doctors Decters Holloway and McCully deciding the cause of Joseph Aneefer death. If neck dislocation, he may walk free. if rib crushing or internal hemorrhage, he faces prison. Coroner Neff questions whether death came from the initial blow or later injuries.
Oscar Reames of Jefferson township and Emma J. Vernon of Reval Center were married this morning by Judge Me Gregor at the county clerk's office. Competent judges called the bride exceptionally pretty in wedlock. Other arrivals included Neator Waw and pay master at Ft Wayne at 4 50, plus George Ki. Burrows and Miss Ida B. Umbargers of Walton.
Michael Neubauer a U S regular army private was found in the Murdoch hotel jail after being routed from a train near Ridgeville Indiana. He claimed he left to return home because his sister was dying and officers will take him to Columbus barracks for desertion trial.
Marion has been selected to host the State Municipal League meeting in November. Logansport will be represented, with Marion favored due to the Soldiers' Home, extended street improvements, water works, electric plants, and local glass factories. The league aims to advance municipal government and discuss street work, police, fire, and engineering appointments.
Eighteen hundred shopmen and families from Indianapolis traveled by two heavy special trains to Maxinkuckee for the Panhandle annual excursion. Despite rainy skies, the group remained cheerful as they toured Lake Maxinkuckee, praising the Pennsylvania Company and its officials for organizing the event.
A large flower pot toppled from a window above Loms Ray's store on Market Street this afternoon and narrowly missed a passerby. The man escaped injury by a split second when a pretty girl drew him aside as the pot came down.

Bruce Scroggs and Arthur Spivey took possession Monday of the Bishop and Sons general store at Walton. The store is among Cass county’s largest and stock invoices between 000 and 10 000 dollars. Both men were longtime county teachers who later ran a profitable grocery business they recently sold.
The Rock Creek Threshing Club with seventeen members celebrates tonight at William A. Miller’s home on the Kokomo pike near Rock Creek. They boast the best threshers in the county and expect a royal feast and plenty of fun with several city guests invited.
In the county clerk’s office this morning a wedding clearance was issued to a young couple as they prepared to marry. Deputy Clerk Gifford was delayed assisting in a decommissioning of a battered craft creeping to port. Attorney James A. West operated at the wheel. The docket indicates the boat Beckley had begun its voyage.
T E Topper, longtime clerk at the Fourth Street office of Adams Express, departs for Steubenville to head the local company office as agent. He made many friends here, and his promotion is asserted to be on merit.

Dr A W Tucker medical examiner for the Pennsylvania and Vandalia lines, residing at 110 Ninth Street, is in critical condition in Indianapolis after an operation for presumed appendicitis. The procedure revealed no appendicitis but an abdominal tumor that was punctured, spreading pus. condition now improved and expected to recover.
Nathaniel Eckert a 37 year old painter in the maintenance of way department of the western division of the Pennsylvania was instantly killed yesterday morning at Valparaiso. He was crushed between two ears of a string when an engine moved them while he worked painting buildings and stock yard fences. Eckert leaving a wife and two children ages two and four. The body was taken to Nevada Colorado the family home where burial will occur Sunday. He had been with the company since last year.
Walter Reeder faces petit larceny charges after allegedly taking a neighbor’s silver pitcher. The case was adjourned to Saturday August 26 at 2 p m for arrest proceedings, with Constable McElhaney pursuing the suspect who is reportedly at Walton.
A gathering of old settlers at Captain D B McConnell's office failed to reach a definite plan for a picnic due to small attendance. Several were present but no final location or date was decided. the matter will be thoroughly canvassed later.
Charles Van Dyne confined in the county jail awaiting grand jury action on horse stealing uses cambine and wire to craft yacht designs behind bars. His artful workmanship and charming figures help him sell pieces, including a fine sloop for Deputy Sheriff Emry.

Nicola Arrona an Italian section man with Panhandle Railway died after being struck by a locomotive in the local yards as he stepped into the engine’s path near the yard office. He had only recently arrived in America and had planned to bring his wife and child from Italy to join him.
Robert Hillis attempted to board a moving Broadway street car and slipped in mud. He flipped into a double somersault, landed on his chin, then returned home with mud on him and later wore court plaster. He told reporters he will only board cars when they are stopped.
Illinois families from this county met at C M Cordell's office to organize the fourth annual Hlimeis picnic. The event will be at Spencer park soon and is expected to be one of the season's largest gatherings.
