Victims paid $3 for a novelty typewriter but could not write the promised 1000 letters, as detectives allege the operator sold over a hundred such machines in three months and faces indictment.
The harness stolen from John W. Smith’s barn behind 1248 North Street was returned by two boys named Everett. They found it in the alley behind the barn and kept it at home on the South Side hoping to see an ad in the paper. Smith said it was likely dropped by the horse and did not press charges.

The Whistler family gathered yesterday at Spencer park for their annual reunion. Attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Clint Wagoner with children, Mrs. Alez Mears and Miss Opal, Misses Marie and Fern Ferling, and Mrs. Malvina Whistler from Deer Creek township Carroll county.
Al Abrams a conductor on the Indiana Union Traction Line died at his Indianapolis home from injuries suffered in the Noblesville interurban wreck on March 8, 1908. The crash involved a passenger and freight car head on. no passengers or trainmen were killed though many were wounded. Abrams had a leg broken and a crushed spine and never recovered.

In Chico Cal August 18 officials confirm that Mrs B E Warren first made ice cream soda. In 1885 the drink combined soda water with syrup and a splash of cream. When fresh cream ran out she used ice cream and patrons demanded more ice cream, sparking the invention.
Miss Ida Gates twenty four fought two robbers on the North Side using a hatpin as a weapon of defense. She struggled for several minutes and pinned one attacker in the arm before the pair fled with her gold watch and chain.

W C Spencer sues Perry Coplen for possession of a Boone township house and 400 dollars in damages after a three day trial. The dispute arose over cow driving and muddy shoes leading to Coplen being fired and refusing to leave the colocated dwelling. Attorneys set to argue tomorrow morning.
Four local youths ages around fourteen were arrested in Chicago for train riding after leaving home to see aeroplanes. Their parents were notified and one boy, Angalone, reportedly ate lunch at home before disappearing. The others, Clifford Cordell Ralph Kned es and Walter Smith, are detained at the juvenile home.
