E L Goldthwaite a former Logansport reporter joined Professor Donaldson in a July 8 1875 balloon ascent that reached about 9650 feet with a 80000 cubic foot gas bag. Grimwood Chicago News reporter died in Lake Michigan after accompanying Donaldson later that trip.

A plan to erect a giant eight to ten story office building is under way at Fourth and North streets Logansport on the site of the Bridge City Candy company. Joseph Reitemeier Frank Bott and other local business leaders back the project with a possible spring start and expect a twelve percent net return after costs. Carl Horn is drafting the plans and a ten story version is favored by most backers.

Board Orders Streets Made and Permits Issued
The board of public works ordered the city engineer to grade gravel gutter and cement sidewalk four streets Day Tanguy Grove and Main on the South Side with work to be completed by fall and asked for bid prospects from contractors. Building permits were issued to Joseph Hartz for a two story residence at Seventeenth and Broadway costing 3500 dollars and to T J McElheny for a two story residence at Fifteenth and North costing 3006 dollars.

Seventy five to one hundred members of the Chicago Motorcycle Club will journey from Chicago to Indianapolis to witness the races Friday and Saturday. They pass through Logansport as they travel by road and may stop overnight. The endurance race from Cleveland to Indianapolis starts in Cleveland and ends in Indianapolis. Riverside park shock survivor Walter aged seventy survives 2300 volt arc
August Walters a Riverside park policeman aged seventy was shocked when lowering an arc light in Riverside park. He and lamp toucher William Dunn were struck by a 2300 volt line causing both to fall. Dunn recovered first while Walters lay unconscious and was helped to safety. Walters revived after doctors treated three deep burns.
