City Engineer Threatens Widespread Street Reforms
Harry Thompson the city engineer plans moving business blocks on the west side of Fourth street back two feet moving the postoffice ten feet east and rebuilding the Baptist church five feet to the east. He aims to straighten Fourth Sixth and Seventh streets and alter North and Broadway despite protests from property owners and church leaders. He also plans changing Sixth street to aid a bridge at Kel river and extending Sycamore street while removing west side Third street buildings. Broadway theatre owners fear for their structure but hope is vain. Postmaster Johnston may appeal to the President to stop the moves, possibly bringing regulars to defend the post office and Rogues Row.

Joe Minnick of Itto Shoe & Clothing narrowly escapes death when a South Side street car strikes the horse and buggy he rode in near Burling on Avenue. Minnick was advertising for the store and thrown from the buggy, sustaining only slight bruises. the buggy owner is Pennell Bros. The incident occurred about 5:30 p.m. and the rear wheels were demolished.
