In Washington February 28 the senate adjourned after four hours of debate on the sundry civil bill and a financial amendment by Gorman proposing $10,000,000 in debt certificates was withdrawn. Mills attacked the plan while Hill defended gold and silver as the constitution.

Arrangements are under way in Glassy-onno New Jersey to celebrate Hannah Chard's 107th birthday. Born April 20 1788 in Ferrell near the town she remains active with a good memory and is noted as a great smoker. Five generations of her descendants will attend the event.

A telegram from Checotah I T reports Detective Sam Farmer and his party clashed with the Ben Hughes gang of train robbers. Hughes was captured, a gang member wounded, and Snakehead an Indian scout for Farmer killed. The gang had robbed the Pacific express car at Thurber Junction last October.
