Senator Eaton moved the free silver Clapp resolution which was tabled. Its consideration was set for Feb. 19. The house committee agreed to place a constitutional amendment on the April ballot to raise state officer salaries: Governor $4,000. auditor general and attorney general $3,500 each. circuit judges $2,500. others $2,500 or $3,500 with a missing value.
The Minneapolis, St. Paul and Ashland Railway company filed articles of organization to build a 200 mile line from Minneapolis to Ashland. Capital stock is 2,500,000 in 80,000 shares of 25 each. Principal stockholders include Thomas Pardon J W Cochran Colonel John W Knight and W R Bowron.
