United States Consul General Panfield reports from Cairo that Egypt is rapidly growing as a cotton competitor. Egyptian cotton price in Alexandria runs about 2 cents per pound higher than American cotton, yet Egyptian exports to the United States are rising as buyers seek the superior product.

County jail holds them as local tensions rise and the possibility of lynching looms. In Richmond Mrs Mary Gunion wed Charles J Hallen after a brief acquaintance. They rented an address for business, then traveled to Cincinnati where Hallen vanished with $650 of his wife’s money.
Mrs. Sarah Monteith died at her home 87 West Twentieth street after a long illness. Born October 22, 1824 in Fleming county Kentucky, she was brought to Indiana at age five and lived on a Knightstown area farm before moving to Indianapolis as a young girl.
Bristol on December 17 reports heirs of Jonathan Crumbacker will pull the large reward for catching his killer on December 19. Crumbacker was slain December 19, 1894, with detectives failing to find a clue, and it is now unlikely further investigations will be pursued.
State Deputy Burns discusses using the stereopticon in work in northern Ohio this winter. Illinois hosts the largest Modern Woodmen membership. Ivory camp plans a January public installation. Dubuque shows about 1,000 Woodmen and aims to lead jurisdiction. Camps may not take dues from neighbors in prohibited occupations. New York reports a large scale lockout as about 15 000 tailors in New York Brooklyn and Jersey City are affected. The dispute centers on the contract bond system and the move toward a task-based wage, with 195 shops under 19 employers associations and 20 000 workers potentially involved. Contractors defend the new rules while unions claim the changes give contractors control and threaten stipulations on extra men and timekeeping.

Disguised as women they used hickory switches and clubs, witnesses seen the attack. Dr Fraker released on bond. Also: Dr George W Fraker, former inmate at Ray county jail, freed on bond and returning to Excelsior Springs to resume medical practice. A ranch near Fulverton saw Minnie Johnson and her daughter repelled by a revolver wielded by a frightened woman. the intruder jailed. In St Joselyn it is believed W C Brown will succeed W F Merrill as manager of Missouri Burlington lines.

He asserts gold will emerge to cover retirements and notes a potential gold redeemable system cannot exist while United States and treasury notes circulate. The district chemist analyzed the alleged bomb found on the doorstep of Spanish Minister de Lome’s residence Sunday morning. The contents were deemed harmless, according to the report.
