Esteemed lady Lavinia Parry Maughan wife of W W Maughan of Cache Stake died Wednesday evening from bowel troubles after a two week illness She was born in Salt Lake City Nov 24 1857 came to Logan about 1880 married Oct 18 1883 Funeral in Logan Tabernacle Sunday Sept 27 at 12 noon Public view of remains at residence from 9 to 11 o clock Sunday She was active in Cadetstake Young Ladies M L A and leaves a husband four children and extended family Meanwhile Socialist party leaders advocate public ownership of utilities and industrial reform outlining aims and anticipated changes in society.

County conventions set to nominate justices of the peace
In political circles, county conventions will nominate justice of the peace candidates in each precinct, likely within two weeks. Logan City Council Creates Water District No 9
In a regular meeting held last Wednesday, President E W Robinson chaired. The city marshal was ordered to remove protruding pipes on Main Street sidewalk. Water main district No 9 was created with routes from Third South and Main to Fourth South, then east half a block, plus a segment north from Center to First North on First West and another from Main on Second North. The recorder was instructed to issue assessment notices for laying the mains. The districts were formed on petitions from nearby residents. The council adjourned after routine business.
