NEW INDIAN CHURCH DEDICATION AT FORT FALL IDA
The Pirat Presbyterian chapel at Fort Fall Idaho marked a historic step for Bannock and Shoshone Indians on the reservation. Miss Amelia J Widat, sent by the Connecticut Indian Association in 1887, led the mission with Rev James Hayes since 1895. A large gathering attended the dedication with speeches, songs, and a collection nearing 29. The church, organized June 18 1809, now counts about 60 members under elders Alec Watson Henry Smith Hubert Tetoby and Edward Grant. The building cost about 2500 with much labor donated by Indians. The mission of Indian girls began here and later moved to the Episcopal church area near Oregon Short Line station.
