New Indian Church Dedication at Fort Hall Reserve
The Phi Presbyterian church at Fort Hall Idaho was dedicated recently marking a milestone for Bannock and Shoshone Indians. Miss Amelia J Prout began missionary work there in July 1887 and Rev James Hayes visited each summer aiding the effort. The dedication drew many Native and white attendees from Pocatello Idaho Falls and Blackfoot. Speakers included Hayes and others with Shoshone translation. Collections totaled about 29 dollars and a dinner followed with a hymn service. The church, organized June 18 189, now has eight charter members and a growing Shoshone led congregation. It sits near Gilson station on the Oregon Short Line with about 2,500 dollars invested in a framed building. The work began with support from Frost and later transferred to Episcopal care, with a relocation to tribal land set aside for religious use about six miles north of the agency. The church debt is clear and improvements are unencumbered.

Farm and Garden Notes on Strawberries and Insects
Baime Cp explains cutting runners and plowing between strawberry rows to control growth, fall care to build root systems, and spring vigor. A. L. Hatch advocates wood ashes as soil amendments, timing applications in spring and early summer. Warnings on ash variability and benefits focus on nitrate availability. Advice on plum pits, moisture, and storage precedes discussion of Three-Lined Leaf Beetle affecting potatoes and the pest’s larva behavior. Cautions on moth traps cite Prof. J. M. Stedman and Missouri experts, urging skepticism and adherence to entomologists’ guidance.
