At a Friday board of education meeting the decision was made to offer all current instructors their positions for next year. The board urged the county court to provide 22,000 dollars for Logan schools with about one fifth for building funds, though construction plans are not yet decided.
Home talent presented Priscilla to large crowds Friday and Saturday, with strong chorus and first class orchestra. Lead casts included G W Thatcher Jr Miles Standish F H Baugh John Alden A L Farrell the governor Connie Thatcher Priscilla and Nettie Sloan as Resignation. Many others delivered creditable performances, and the production was directed by George Thatcher.
The Cache Stake quarterly conference convened in Logan on Sunday morning April 1 1902 with leaders and counselors from the Levertyve quorum present. President Morrell welcomed attendees and urged harmony and service while noting gender decorum and avoidance of secret societies. Messages from Elder Mitchell Sorenson Maughan Merrill and others emphasized devotion family love and duty to bring souls to the Lord. A call to appoint three returning missionaries for home mission work and seating updates for bishops and counselors closed with a benediction by President C D Feldsted.
On a Logan street Saturday, Orson Welch of College seized a10 year old daughter of his divorced wife, taking the child home. The girl screamed as her aunt tried to intervene. Marshal Crockett helped persuade Welch to release the frightened child.
Kil Wennergren died Sunday morning in Newton from pneumonia. He was about 40 years old, well known in Cache county. His wife died two weeks earlier. They left six children, oldest near 18 and youngest a few weeks old. Remains lie in state at John Christiansen’s residence in Fifth Ward today 10 to 1. Funeral at the meeting house at 2 this afternoon.
