Plank defines white light by energy distribution across the spectrum and a law stating that within each small spectral region energy can be treated as uniform. The squares of amplitudes and phases of periodic partial vibrations are distributed irregularly, and extending this to the full spectrum yields calculated energies matching experimental measurements of normal white light.
The agricultural department has begun a series of inquiries into old storage conditions revealing mysteries in cold storage warehouses. Observations show some fruit remains sound for months while others decay quickly, especially peaches. Government men seek causes of these varied effects and changes in flavor.
An ingenious apparatus records continuously at ten minute intervals the flow of air or water. It uses pendulum deflection by moving liquid or gas to show a dial reading. A clockwork mechanism drives the recording.
