Strange Sleep Case Attracts Hospital Attention
For twenty eight days Bessie Knecht has remained mute and motionless, fed by liquids while lying in Norton Salt Lake and later at Holy Cross hospital. The childlike patient, weighing fifteen to twenty pounds less, is believed near death from exhaustion. When raised to a sitting position she bleeds from her nostrils, and hysteria is considered unlikely. A surgical operation may be tried if other treatments fail.
