Council minutes from March 18 show discussions on road surveys in sections 17-58 and 24-50-27, a request to receive the departmental bulletin on weeds, and notes on continuing the Hudson's Bay Co. surtax amid municipal finance questions. A Monday incident near Fartown Notes reports lightning striking the home of Mr Gam Notes causing partial destruction and a fire. Sam escaped with the item before the blaze grew. Two miles west a prairie fire started by the same cause was quickly doused by rain and a firefighting party led by Bill Rogan. Mr B Morry of Saskatoon was noted in the closing lines.
Allied forces report advances from Czernowitz to Het Sas and La Bassee as Russian troops seize Austrian supplies and prisoners. Western front actions yield ground for French and British while Zeppelins suffer heavy losses amid ongoing brutal combat.
Inspection of regimental outfit supplies at the local headquarters reveals good leather goods and strong materials, but boot and greatcoat allocations are misfitted. Many boots are oversized and sizing is inconsistent, causing discomfort as men prepare for duty. Extra guards oversee distribution despite shortages and mismeasurements.

Northern France report for May 18 notes a flotilla of three to four craft by night. One craft reached Cape Grienesz before turning back and meeting fate northward. Another dropped bombs on Calais and, after strikes and fire, collapsed in Belgian lines. Two British airmen are killed while Zeppelin crews reportedly did not return to Bruges. No dirigible did any military damage.
From the south comes good news of a British advance as Canadian troops rest. At Richbourg Festubert the German redoubt collapsed under British artillery and infantry charges. British and Indian forces breached the lines, inflicted heavy damage with grenades, and captured hundreds of prisoners as German counterattacks failed.
The Municipal Hospital presented its first annual report at a Wednesday meeting showing medical cases 51 with 21 percent deaths, maternity cases 23 with no loss, major operations 20 with 18 cures, minor operations 36 with 33 cures, and accidents 9 with 1 death. Overall, hospital staff and matron received praise for thoroughness and care.
